When I was flying my Super Cub today, I noticed something odd.
Mine is still a 3-channel plane so no ailerons. After a turn, hands off the sticks, the plane didn't level out. I had to apply opposite rudder to stop the turn or it would just circle. Was the same in both directions.
It flew straight, and was trimmed out for level flight at half throttle.
There is dihedral in the wing but it didn't have the levelling effect I expected. The weather was dead calm.
Any thoughts on why this would be the case?

Did you have to input on the control back to level ? Could be the servo is hanging....control linkage hanging....control horn dragging....or YOUR input on them. Did you trim the Rudder ? Check your servo, the control linkage and the control horns....check everything before you fly again. Trim it out on the bench before going out and then see what happens next time. And a calm day ? you must be fortunate, I have not seen a calm day in months.

my instructor taught me to move the stick to the low wing if it is coming towards you to level off & to the high wing if going away from you.after a turn you need a little input

I went to a local Hobby Town store this weekend. They sell the HobbyZone Super Cubs there, too. Of course, they had nothing in stock that I needed, but the sales person practically begged me to play with the Phoenix SIM he had set up for the cub. In reality though, it was he who wanted so badly to show me what he could do on the machine. Still, it was fun, but to me is just a bit different from actually flying for some reason. He went through the same scenarios as mentioned above and used the about the same technique to right everything instead of reacting in a panic. It was hard to break free and leave him, as he was having a ball in showing me all he could do. It made his day to be doing something at work that he actually enjoyed. My wife came in the store finally and was miffed that I had spent the last hour or more inside while she shopped next door. Women.... :-)
