A very sad story - but which also carries important lessons for all RC flyers. Our aircraft have the capacity to cause serious injuries (loss of eyes, for example)or even death, as seen here. Suppose you accidentally hit a young child / baby / valuable animal? Or accidentally came down on a road, causing a car to swerve and crash? Apart from the obvious lesson to observe all the safety rules while enjoying our sport, PLEASE be insured against damage or injury caused by your aircraft. Otherwise, you risk shelling out megabucks defending and settling a lawsuit. You might even lose your home to settle up. In the UK, membership of the British Model Flying Association (BMFA) includes millions of pounds worth of public liability and personal insurance, besides many other benefits. BMFA is the official representative body for model aircraft flying in the UK. Put BMFA into your search engine for full details. Over the years, I have repeatedly urged that insurance is essential. You know it makes sense, people!

toff - Thanks for the warning. I fly RC helicopters in addition to my SuperCub. I will want to be extra careful after reading your post. Ted
