I am moving the continuation of my thread to this folder because I think it will fit better here than in the "Tips" folder where I had started it. Thanks to flydiver, toff, and kenninny for their advice. See subject of same name in the "Tips" folder for more background. But briefly summarized: The motor in my new sc would die whenever I went to full throttle. I had to back off on the throttle completely and then push forward again to make the motor come on again. I eliminated the battery by testing with another battery. flydiver suggested that I contact the company for a warranty replacement of the ESC, which I did. In the next frame, I will report my results. Sorry about not starting this whole subject in this "Trouble Shooting" to start with.

I phoned Horizon Hobby on Wednesday, and had a replacement RX/ESC at my home on Friday. Not bad! Today, Saturday, I installed the new RX/ESC in place of the old one, and my problem went away. Two test flights this evening went great, and I was able to take off with full throttle both times. These flights were flights #6 and #7. Flights #1 through #5 on previous days were made with the old RX/ESC but being careful to stay away from full throttle. In another frame I will report on what I did to swap out the RX/ESC in case that might be helpful to someone else who discovers the same problem with their sc. More to come . . .

Here's what I did to replace my RX/ESC: 0. Unplug ACT connectors. ( I had previously disconnected mine anyway ) 1. Unplug 4 wire extension cord that goes to the bottom of the fuselage. It can only plug in one way. 2. Unplug Elevator servo 3 wire connector from Elev pins on rx. (Brown wire goes toward rear of plane; Orange toward front) 3. Unplug Rudder servo connector from *****AILE***** pins on rx. (NOT RUDD PINS) (Note: Brown wire toward rear, Orange toward front). note: Rudder servo is on the starboard side of plane. 4. Unplug Red and Black Motor wires. Note: The clear sleeve around the junction almost looks like one piece, but it is actually two halves so that the junction can be easily separated. 5. Untape longer antenna by loosening the clear tape on the inside port side fuselage wall. 6. Remove RX/ESC unit by spreading the 4 clips and lifting unit out. Note: There is some sticky tape on the bottom of the unit. Also note that you will need to work out the battery connector which is routed downward along the port side to the bottom of the plane. Watch how it is routed so you will know how to re-install. 7. Remove sticky tape from bottom of old RX/ESC unit, and transfer it to the bottom of the new RX/ESC. 8. Install new RX/ESC unit in plane by working backwards through the above list. Note: Most commentators on this forum recommend not having ACT connected. 9. Rebind according to your owners manual instructions. 10. Good luck, and God Bless!
