Since I joined the Club here and revived my interest in my Cub, I had decided to perform some upgrades and mods. The first mod I tackled was a wheel upgrade. See this post: supercubclub.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=whls&action=display&thread=2945While doing this I became frustrated that I didn't have enough room to do all the work I wanted to do to the Cub. I received a drill press for my birthday and then I really didn't have the room to do the work. So I decided to reorganize my garage/clubhouse (I also hang out in here, with a tv, computer and ventilation fan in a window for my nasty cigarette habit. I also don't smoke inside my house. I had some leftover 2x4's and plywood from a previous project, so I built a new workbench. Being that my original workbench is occupied by the tv, pc and all. I have finally finished everything up and now I am all set up to continue working on the cub. The battery box mod, upgrade to LiPo's, etc.. Though I would post a pic to show what I have been up to. This whole area of the garage was so jammed up it was horrible. No-where to work, hardly anywhere to walk. Not anymore!

Nice. I have been contemplating a decent size shed with a workbench. My Lawnmower and yard equipment currently reside in my garage...and my back yard....and really wherever they fall when I'm done working in the yard. Would be nice to have a hobby space and a place to park that stuff. The good news is my wife agrees.. after I dropped several 'dots' of solder on our recently sanded/painted kitchen table. :I
Your space looks good. I just quit smoking a year ago after almost 20yrs. I'm 35 now. I still want to smoke even after a year so i feel your pain. It is a nasty habit.
Can't wait to see the mod results. Good luck!

Nice work! I have a nice workshop in my garage. I set myself up with a stereo, PC access and a large workspace. 9 out of 10 times though I work on my plane in the family room because of my wife. What can I say; she loves me and wants to be with me. I've invited her to come and sit with me while I do my stuff in the garage but... I do a lot of running back and forth between the family room and the garage.

Nicely done. I'll be laying some flooring in my workshop this weekend which will be easier to vacuum than concrete and a fair bit warmer. One point that you may want to consider is the positioning of your vice. If you are working on something (a wing say) on the bench and you move it across the bench, you have the possibility of bumping it into the vice. Unlikely I know, but it'll be s0ds law if that happened and you'd be pretty peeved if it did. BTW, my workshop is an absolute dump!

Great looking shop! I'm with you Ski. Wife was giving nasty looks when I was working at the kitchen table so I retired my efforts to the shop. Waaaaayy out in the back yard. Its' a great man cave. 1000 watt Kenwood CD/stereo, fridge and windows for fresh air (I too smoke, outdoors only). Old age is gonna be a smooth transition for me. ;D

That's neat! Looks good too! What blood on what shoe??? Thanks Erwin, it certainly makes cleaning up a lot easier (sawdust etc), and is nice and comfy underfoot. The only slightly disappointing thing is the castors on the benches seem to leave tracks in the stuff (it's a sort of foam rubber) but I can live with that, I don't move them around too often. It was so easy to lay too as it's just like a giant jigsaw puzzle so I didn't have to clear the whole room first, just move stuff around. I covered pretty much the whole floor area (3m x 3.6m) for £60 (roughly $100), so not expensive. I was wondering the same re the shoe. If Badlands means the thing in the bottom of the picture, that's the arm of a chair that I've been meaning to repair for several years!

I have a nice workshop in my garage. I set myself up with a stereo, PC access and a large workspace. Here's my space. I used it quite a bit this weekend tweaking my trucks. Too windy/rainy to fly. That's a crock pot full O Virginia boiled peanuts! The fam doesn't like the way that they smell for some reason so...I use my workbench. YUM!! ;D

Good Ole' VA peanuts sure are yummy. Besides the history here it might be the best thing about living in VA. Do you have someone from back here shipping your nuts to you, or did you just take a lifetime's worth out there with you? LOL I live about 20 minutes or so from Wakefield and used to see (and still do sometimes) the "First peanuts grown in America not far from this site." sign during the trips down 460 to VA Beach. I always thought that was a pretty cool face. I know that other states grow peanuts but VA was first. We Virginians sure do like our peanuts! On a side note: The Virginia Diner may have a lot of history and fans.......but IMO it isn't really that good and is very much over priced for country cooking. Which is cheap out of necessity.

I bought a large sack and brought them back with me from Virginia when I was home for the holidays. I smuggle brunswick stew in my suitcases as well. Three things that you just can't get out here on the left coast. VA Peanuts, Brunswick stew and curred country ham, my fav being Smithfield! My parents send us a Smithfield country ham each season around Thanksgiving . It lasts through New Years. I saw that sign last Novemeber while in Wakefield. I bought them from The Wakefield Peanut Co. I'm not a huge fan of the Virginia Diner either. I remember as a kid going down there on a Sunday for lunch when it was really "the place to go" not so much anymore. Too touristy! My favs are the, Chickahominy House in Williamsburg, and the Kings Arms Tavern in Williamsburg. Georgia claims that they are Peanut Country and that Brunswick stew was first made there...Bull%#@$! Brunswick County VA in 1828! Salute!! ;D
