I've found a FREE rc flight simulator called FMS (Flying Model Simulator). Its got loads of different planes and helis, and a supercub just like ours but for some reason its called supercup Huh. I admit its not got the best graphics but its quite realistic and it certainly helps refine your skills. You can change the strength of thermals and its got different views to increase realism. Click on this link n-old.ethz.ch/student/mmoeller/fms/index_e.html, an then click on downloads. Here's some screenshots of it. Supercup Airbus Cessna Skyhawk

Most of us are probably aware of FMS. But it is always worth repeating every now and again. It certainly helped me on my maiden flight.

Careful, in FMS its called the Super Cup, not the Super Cub. hehe, don't try to rename it on your own. It flies much differently than the Super Cub. There are models available for download. OzRCBoy has an FMS model for the Super Cub here. Just download and install.

The J-3 Cub for FMS does fly just about like the stock supercub, much closer than the Supercup available.

I looked on the models avalible for download, and I couldn't find the J-3. Can you guys(and gals) tell me how to find it? I've used the supercup for a while, and if there is a more realistic model, I'd like to try it. Thanks; Rolie

Old new guy here. I use to fly rc planes years ago. Now the grandkids and I are getting started in rc planes together. i just got the Super Cub LP. I've downloaded FMS and I am wondering what control unit you are using to fly?
I am looking forward to busting off the rust with this plane. I just wanted me and the boys to have a little simulated stick time before we get to the flying field.

This one works fine. $20 seems to be the going price for it and similar units. www.hobbypartz.com/e4chflsitrki.htmIf you are using Vista or Win7 you may need to do some extra stuff to get it going. Free is often not without some cost.

Hi ibnup from one grandpa to another . . .
I notice that, like me, you are using the grandchildren as an excuse for buying your plane! ;D
I can recommend the ESky simulator that flydiver mentions above.
I've had one for more than a year.
It's simple to use after initial setup. All you have to do is plug it into a USB and away you go. No batteries to worry about.
Welcome to Super Cub Club and good luck!
(Remember to let the grandchildren have a go from time to time!)

I am a newbie so I have been searching for Rc Sims. I have the FMS and have downloaded a bunch of models for it and it is great. I have also downloaded RC desktop pilot and it is even better than FMS. In the new release you can we towed when using a glider and take off and land from the lake if using a sea plane! There are not as many models available as in FMS but you can activate flaps and landing gear in some of the models if you have a 6 channel controller. The graphics are awesome in RCDP. It is pretty new and there is not a Super Cub available at this time. GGunners has some of the models like the J3 that works well!
