It's a another transmitter that plugs into another. In TX capable of using and acting like buddy boxes, you can have a more experienced pilot "fly along" with you and each can gain control of the plane with a flick of a switch. Nice way to learn if you have a TX than has a port for it, which the stock SC doesn't.

If you have the DX4e and another Spektrum + appropriate cord you can buddy box. Buddy box have to be the same brand, but not the same model. Buddy box with an experienced pilot is the best, fastest, safest way to learn. You can save a lot of foam, parts and grief that way.
Note - the OLD TX on 27MHz with the slider will not buddy box with anything.
