Results real nice and weight of battery not a problem as far as i can tell.

Nice bit of work there garvey76, seems to fit like a glove.
I also noticed you've marked your reciever, i presume its for plugging the servos back in the right way.
I learned the hard way, got to the field, done pre flight check and the controls were all arse for elbow and no srewdriver with me :-(

;D Yea marked everything up when i took it apart after the battery box came out. Fits well, seems a waist of time getting those 8 cell 1400's now i get 9 cell in.

I did this mod to mine as well, weigh never seemed a problem and the power boost was quite nice and flight time is still 10-15 mins. Garvey you said you might look and lipo's in the future. I'm away from home so I cannot post pictures atm but I resently converted mine over to lipo's. www.hobbyzone.com/rc_parts_battery_parkzone_1050.htmI bought this charger/battery combo and absoultly love it. The power outpout is only slightly more than your 9 cell but the real nice part is the far longer flight duration. I've flown a few times on the lipo's and although I never timed them im guessing my flight time was 20-25 mins and it was still going when I landed cause I was getting physically tired fo flying. My other flights were cut short due to other reasons. Anyways I mounted these lipo's in my plane in the same manner you did your 9-cell. You may have to hollow out a little more foam but it also fits nicely in the plane and the extra tail weight was never an issue either. If you want more details or pics I can probly get them and ill time my next flight and post it here. Also for those who are looking at the 9-cell conversion something else is if you turn the battery 1/4 turn and slide them in plane like that you will not need to cut away any foam, although the lower ACT eye must go, dont really matter seems how there pretty useless anyways. I did have too lengthen the connector wires a little as well to get it hooked up with bigger battery.

Hey, guys. I've had the 9 cell for a while now & it won't spin the prop for more than 1 second! Put it on a few different (non-SC) chargers & it's supposedly charged ok. Someone recommended removing the "voltage cut-off" plug next to the ACT plugs: all that did was cut my motor out while flying-- fun, but not the desired effect. Just seems like a dead battery, you know? Any info? Thanks. Erik

I've got the exact same prob with my 11.1V - 1000mAh LiPo, so any answer here, would also assist me!

removing the LVC would make the problem worse as it would raise the cut off voltage making it shut off sooner. how long do the batteries charge for before shutting off and they slightly warm when they are done charging? you may have a bad battery. do you have a extra battery to try to test the planes electronics?
grimreaper: how many C is your lipo, if its not at least 12 or 15C i would say that the voltage sags under load causing the LVC to kick in.

Ok, this might be. I'm not exactly shure what "C" rating it has, but I doubt it being that much. (It's the original battery from my Honey Bee CP2.)
I'm guessing it's in the range of maby 8-10 C, maby...

then thats probably it, the stock cub will pull 12-15 amps on a lipo and the battery can only supply 8-10 amps.

Plane still flies ok with 8.4 & 9.6 batteries. Oh, well. Back to the LHS to have him check the 10.8. Funny thing is the rudder & elevator both are ok with the 10.8-- just the motor= no go.

hi, will i converted mine to brushless i use 3s1500 lipos most times in "parallel" i also cut the battery tray so i can use use 9 cell NiMh packs on it, runs nicely, before i just strapped my 9 cell packs under it ,lol. while ago i tryed it with a 9 cell in it, and a 9 cell strapped under it hooked in parallel,LOL. man that sucker was heavy but it flew, not sure it do a ROG, cuz i hand launched it, but if it would take off, it would needed alot of room. i dont plan doing it again, just wanted to see if i could,LOL. flight duration wasnt a whole alot better than just one pack,. i found a couple 10 cell NiMh packs for REAL cheap, im gonna try one those when i get them. i like Lipos best, but im going to take advantage of all the cheap NiMh out there no body wants , as long as im in the air, i dont really care where the juice comes from,Super Cub is alotta FUN to fly, even stock.
