Hey, so what is a good camera option for taking in flight video off a supercub? I have tried using my mobile phone with some success however, the quality is pretty poor...

If your a technically inclined (can do a little soldering, and can handle running a couple pieces of software and follow instructions), then a hacked CVS single-use video camera is a good choice. It's $30, and you can grab on at CVS, RiteAid and Target I believe. You can hack it to be able to pull the videos off yourself, and reuse it. Once you strip it of its plastic case, you can easily mount it about anywhere on the plane. All models are easily hackable EXCEPT the newest firmware ... watch out for the package with the blue sticker. I just picked one of these up after work yesterday, and did the hack in an hour or so. Haven't flown it yet ... maybe this weekend. Here's a link to the Forum where you can learn all about it. camerahacks.10.forumer.com/index.php

Here is a link of my video I took using my Sony Ericsson W800. www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQOp3fOp1iI After looking more a other videos around, maybe the quality isnt that bad. I would love to get a wireless setup that I could capture on my computer and then be able to steer to get the shots I want

Google (i.e., search for) 5-1 DVR. There's a hobby shop that sells them for a about a $100. They the size of thumb drive and can capture more video than you'll need. It plugs into your PC with a USB connection.

Check www.RCUVideos.com for videos made by me, JoeFlyer...They've all been taken with a Cobra DMC300 camera (seen a similar camera marketed as FlightCamOne). It's 1.25"W x 3.5"L x .25"D...It's one of those 5-in-1 cameras that takes a SD memory card and uses a builtin USB connector to get stuff onto your PC. It takes stills at 640x480 and AVI video at 20fps @ 320x240 resolution -- which is just right for web sharing. The camera is light enough to strap to your SC with rubber bands. I've also cut a small slit into the top of my main wing so I can face the camera forward or backward. I paid $29.99 for mine at a local store called Fred Meyers (one of those stores that carries eveything from groceries, to clothing, to computers) I love the camera. I put a 256mb SD card in it and can take several 10+ minute videos before even coming close to filling the card...and the internal battery charges off the USB port, so there's no batteries to replace. Happy Shooting ;D
