I have bought many 100's of the cheaper packs and found about 50% to be good and 50% bad. I used to buy from one guy but he is not carrying anymore batts. Bummer! I really liked em too. This guy is ok too but he is not as much of a "dealing" kind of guy....from past offers I have made. He does ship quickly and is a great seller though. I just ordered a bunch of batts for my smaller planes and gassers last night from him.

If you were to use an FMA Cellpro 4s charger, what pigtail would you need to charge these batteries?

I am planning on upgrading to lipos and have just received my first ever lipo batteries from CWT in China. I am very pleased with the price (18.29 plus 19.99 for shiping for two) and the service (about 9 days) ;D . I do have some questions if some one could help. I have a Triton jr. and am thinking about getting the equinox balancer. My questions are - 1. How important is it to balance - do I need a balancer 2. if so any other balancers to consider 3. Can some one sort out the types of balancer connections ( I have the 3 cell 2200 Mystery battery) and how hard it is to make or get adapters. 4. The best way to handle a new battery for charging. This is my first post and I should add that the advice given has been of great help Juusto

Welcome Juusto!
Balancers are nessessary to maintain a healthy pack. It will allow each cell to get it's full charge and not be over charged. Charging with out is ok a few time but balancing is needed often. Individual cell do tend to drift apart as far as voltage is concerned. I just got a bunch of balance adapters from common sense r/c. They are nice and cheap. I have packs with 4 different types of balance plugs to adapters were nessessary. I found that all of my packs that were not balance charged were way off and in dnager of ruin. So balancing is indeed nessessary. I use a TP 210V wich is probably more than most of you would need but it is a great balancer. They also make a TP-205V for less money with less cell capacity. Up to 5 cells is plenty for most. Do a google search for blinky balancers. They have good feedback as well. I never used one but know lots who do. Try to take it easy for the first 3 flights when discharging them initially. I like to discharge at 3C-5C for proper break in for 3 flights (or just discharges). Only bleed off about 2/3 of pack capacity for break in. A watt meter will track mah flowing out of the pack or a LVC will work too if you can set it higher than 3.0vpc like 3.2 is best I found. If none of those are possible for you then just take it easy for the forst 3 flights and land early and let cells cool before recharging. After that fly em hard and fast if you want. Just make sure no to exceed the discharge rate of lipo's for an extended period of time (more than 30 seconds).
Have fun and land soft, Kevin
