Quick question

Hey guys,

Im trying to upgrade to Lipo set up for my cub. Me being rather hazy on some of this stuff(like battery volts etc never really messed with them before) I was wondering if the following would be all I need to turn my SC into a Lipo Cub.

I do not have a charger yet so of course I have to include the charger. I guess one of the main things im not so sure about are the connectors, can you change out the connectors on that charger box(it looks like they are built into the front)? Or how does all that work. My thought process says, buy enough connectors to change out everything I own to match so I can just plug anything in.

Well that leads me to wonder are these the right connectors for that?
That chargee is a DC charger which means i would have to use my car battery always with it? Does it have a adaptor for the cig lighter or even to turn into a AC charger with some type of adapter?
Do i need to buy any connectors at all for the batteries to the charger or do i just need to buy it for the plane to the battery since i still have the stock connectors in my plane.


If something i have listed isnt right please show me a link from unitedhobbies.com the correct item. Or even something you recommend thats better.

Sorry for the noob questions, im just new into RC and these lipo batteries. Would rather not waste money or burn down my house/car/garage or anything of the sorts ;p

Gear wise you have everything covered.

I rarely take my charger to the field so I went ahead and spent extra money on an AC/DC charger so I can just plug the charger in to the wall at home. There are a few other things I've seen people do with their DC chargers to run on AC, like convert an old Computer Power Supply to run their DC charger, you can also buy AC adapters.

When you solder the Deans connectors make sure you use extra caution not to short out the wires. I will solder the Negative side first, then shrink wrap it, then do the Positive side. You always want to shrink wrap the first side before soldering the second as this protects the battery just in case the solder iron slips and touches both connectors. You definitely don't want short out a LiPo.

Two more tips, first make sure you remove the jumper that is on the RX, this raises the voltage cut off to 3V for LiPo, and secondly don't run the motor at full throttle for long periods of time or you run the risk of burning up the motor.

You will really enjoy the extra power the SC gets with the LiPo upgrade.

Couple more questions,

What size shrink wrap do i need for it?

After looking at the battery it has the connectors already to plug into the charger and the deans style on the peice that plugs into the plane. So all ill have to do is change the stock connectors out with the deans im getting, atleast i think thats the case , please correct me if im wrong.

I assume thats what your refering too as far as shrink wrap too right?

Last question for now i think, Where do you buy a AC adaptor?.. i would like to have a plug to plug it into the wall because generally i charge at home. I dont have the luxury to fly too much time during the week yet so i just take two charged batteries and go at it(usually dont make it through them both before i have to leave due to my son or no more sunlight since i work so much).

Chance- I have one more charger for sale that handles NiMh, NiCd, and Lipo's. It is a Dynamite Vision Peak Ultra. It is also AC/DC which is very nice for all types of flyers/racers. Kevin

That's the charger I have and it is very nice. Don't forget to get a balancer though because the charger doesn't have one built in, and make sure you use the balancer every time you charge the batteries as this habit will extend their life.

As far as the shrink wrap goes I don't really know the size to be honest, I have a bunch that are various sizes and just one that fits.
