with that battery you should be able to run wot for the hole flight. that battery is rated at 12 c and its a 2400mah battery so yu should be able to get 26 amps from the baqttery. the stock cub will pull about 12-15 amps max. and you don't need a balancer but it will help maintain the cells and the battery should last longer.

thanks duck, ive seen a few posts on the forum where lipo conversions have blown the esc/Rx just wanted to make sure its safe and that i can blast around at full power without worrying if my planes gonna do a brick impression if the electrics fry!!!

the stock electronics arent the best, and the extra stress may shorten the life somewhat, but there is quite a few people flying with out problems so i wouldn't worry.
now that i am home and not of my phone i took a look at the batteries you had listed and they are the same ones i have. i have been getting 2100-2200 mah out of them. not too bad for the price.
