One of my stock 7-cell batteries appears to be going flakey. When I use it, the motor will cut out if I push to full throttle too fast. If I start at 1/2 and gradually increase to full, it will usually work.
My first thought was the jumper on the receiver, but it's in place and my other 7-cells work fine.
I should also add that the plastic wrap on the battery did get torn near the connector wires a while ago, resulting in stress on one of the wires which eventually broke. I soldered the wire back on and taped up the pack with some packing tape and it worked fine for weeks after.
Any ideas?

You may want to take the entire wrap off and see if the battery bars are still soldered on well. It sounds like a bad connection to me. They use some pretty crappy tabs for the soldering of cells. Check that, Kevin

How long of a flight do you get out of that battery?

Are you using the stock charger? The wall charger that came with my SC foobared and screwed up the battery, I think I managed to fix it but I was having the problem you describe.

Just curious. Drained the battery in the airplane, then hooked it up to a 12v auto car light do discharge it further for about 4-6 hours. Then charged it again using my other charger (@ 1amp), ran it in the plane down again, then charged it again.

I've never timed the length of flight I get with the battery, but it's anywhere between 10-15 mins. I just can't get it to full throttle immediately. Sometimes I won't be able to get it full throttle, even if I try to gradually increase it during flight.
I use the 12v charger for all of my batteries, except the 8-cell, which I charge on the AC.
Perhaps I'll first unwrap the entire thing to make sure all connections are good, as mrmugen suggested.
Thanks!
