hey guys, i just bought my first supercub and was wondering if you could tell me the battery that im looking for, i mainly want a great increase in flight time and maybe power but im not really bothered about that, only flight time! id also like a battery that has a cheap charger or can be charged on the stock charger. thanks heaps!

lipo is going to give you longest flight times since you can get them in higher capacity, but you would need a new charger. with batteries the higher the voltage the more power you get, the more capacity (mah) the longer flight.
cheapbatterypacks.com has elite 1500 mah cells that are about the highest you can get in that cell size. you could mod the battery box to hold a bigger cell but nimah batteries are heavy.

What are my chances of modding the following connectors on the mentioned batteries and then using them directly on the Cub? (Without any other mods.)
Maby even enlarge the battery holder to fit these...
From my Honey Bee CP2 : LiPo 11.1V, 1000mAH. From my Lama V3 : LiPo 7.4V, 800mAH.
Any replies/support and suggestions would be very much appreciated!!! Thanks in advance, regards,
~G~

other then size concerns just switch over all your battery's and equipment over to one type of connector, like deans then you will be good to go. you can use a s3 lipo (11.1v) in the cub by just removing the jumper that is on the receiver. this will change the low voltage cut off to a safe level for lipo batteries. i wouldn't recommend using a s2(7.4 volt) lipo in the cub unless you time your flights since you would have to leave the jumper in and you do not want to over discharge a lipo, or you plane may catch fire, pulse you will get alot more power with a s3 anyways.

So by just changing the connector on my LiPo to deans/or whatever I prefer I can go fly? Whoo-hoo, excellent!!!
Will this bettery not fry the circuitry? (I'm sure it will...) Where exactly will I find this jumper?
Thanks tens-of-millions for your feedback Ducky!!!

nope your receiver will be fine with the 11.1 volts. as for the jumper its on the top of the reciever. SCC has a post with pictures that i quoted. didiboy16. Welcome to the forum. Here are a couple of pics showing the jumper removed. Use a pair of tweasers. I used the prong of my multi-meter that you see in the pic. The jumper just slides up and out.

Switching to LiPo will definately give you a lot more power. Depending on your flying habits it may not give you much more time. I just switched to 2100mAh batteries and have flown it twice since. The first time I flew I didn't time it but it seemed to be about 15-20 minutes. The second time I timed with my stop watch and was surprised that I only got 13 minutes of fly time from take of until the battery turned off. The stock batteries gave me 10 minutes.
I fly with full power almost all the time though so your time may vary depending on how you fly.
The extra boost in power was definately worth the upgrade though. I would guess that I get abt 1 1/2 -2x more power. It seemed that I had just as much power at about 1/2-3/4 throttle than I did with full throttle with the stock 7 cells

if you had a 2000 mah 8.4 volt battery and a 2000 mah lipo (11.1) and ran them wide open unitll cut off the 8.4 volt batter will fly long because the current draw is less due to the lower voltage.

You guys, I'd like to thank all of you a million times over and over for your responses to my questions. All of you've got no idea how much I really appreciate it!!!
I'm gonna look into these mods over the weekend. I already checked, my 11.1V LiPo fits very snug into the battery holder, so no need to make the holder larger!
Will let you all know how the power/flight time goes...
Regards, G.
