Hi to all, I was wondering if I could use this battery in my SC for longer duration flights without any problems? Also, can I charge this battery with the SC stock dc charger? Thanks in advance to any answers.

That battery is rated at 900mah. the stock battery is 1100mah so would actually last longer.
Typically the more voltage in the battery, the more power or speed the aircraft will have.
The more mah the longer the battery will last in flight.
If you want more flight time try the custom packs from cheapbatterypacks.com - they have 1500mah cells that are the same size as the stock packs.

Hi Spen Click on over to here www.component-shop.co.uk/html/flight_packs.html I purchased the 9.6V 1400mAh NiMH 2/3A which Replaces the original Parkzone PKZ1023. It was bought via ebay but he doesn't have it listed on there anymore, only on his website. I didn't manage to get it charged via the supplied charger so bought the parkzone optional charger (PKZ1519) I haven't had a chance to try it out yet as my plane is feeling sorry for itself just now! Hi dundeeguy, thanks very much for the link to that website, a bit more local than cheapbatterypacks.com, I think I'll give them a try when payday comes around. Cheers.

Hi all, Be warned, I bought the same battery from ebay 8 cell 9.6V 1400mAh NiMH and fried my reciever. This cost me $65 to replace :-( I'm wondering of the plug could have been wired backwards? That might have cause it. Otherwise there is no reason a 9.6v cell should harm the receiver unless the receiver was already defective. It is typically the voltage that will fry something, not the amp capacity of the battery. I run 9.6 volt batteries in my SC all the time, it is designed for them.

Hey cjg,
On your advice I've charged my battery from ebay and thought I'd chance connecting it up to my new reciever.......guess what?
It works :-)
Now I can't wait to get out and fly to see if there's more power from my SC!
What can I expect from the extra power?? Physically more power or just longer run time??
Thanks in advance.

^^^ over stock you will notice more power to climb and fight the wind, and if you fly conservatively you will see longer run times. i don't use my stock batteries unless i forget my charger after i got my elite 1500's, im thinking about getting 4 more, or jumping on the lipo ship.

Excellent info guys, thanks. I've now flown the ebay 8 cell 9.6v 1400Mah's and I'm well impressed. climbs quicker, loops effortlessly, flys inverted easily, faster flybys :-) If that's what another 1.2 volts can do then I guess I'll be going 11.1v LiPo with deans very soon ;D I'm aiming to lift my Oregon Scientific Video Camera under it, hopefully this extra power will get it in the air. It weighs in at 232 grams. I tried it on stock 7 cell 8.4v and it kept crashing. I've posted a link in videos

this all sounds very good, but still confused with this battery thing. am i right in saying the cub can run on any NiMH,and the higher the mAh the better? and for the volts, the original is 7.2 but the cub can cope with up to 9.6v. so a 8 cell 1500mah would be a good all round choice? and i can get one made at hobby shops etc?

^^ actually you can run the cub up around 11 volts with a lipo battery just fine, i wouldn't go to much higher then that though. 1500 ma is about as much capacity as a 2/3a battery which are used to make the cub battery can hold so its about as big as you can go with that style.
it depends on your hobby shop if they make batteries or not, but cheapbatterypacks.com is a good place to go too, they have the elite 1500 8 cell packs pretty cheap and they work great.

garvey 76, I see you are in the UK like I am. I bought my Cub and standard here is 7 cell 8.4 volt 1000 mah battery. I bought 3 stock batteries for longer flight times and had lots of fun until I tried to mount a 232 gram video camera below it and things went badly wrong for me, the problem = I needed more power. I was advised of cheapbatterypacks.com but it worked out pricey for me to buy and ship for 1500 mah so I tried ebay and got 8 cell 9.6 volt 1400 mah for just over £12 and the difference was night and day. I can now get of the ground with my camera (over 2000ft) and I can do tricks easily. so good that just tonight some guys came over and asked how I got a petrol engine to run so quiet after seeing me chasing some gulls, dogfighter style :-) They didn't believe me when I told them it's electric powered. My next step (this week) is 11.1 volt LiPo power, I can't wait to try it out. I'm not sure about longer run times yet as I'm always flat out, doing tricks, chasing the bullying gulls or climbing to the edge of space The power alone is worth changing for considering the stock battery is dearer from the LHS. Samples = stock battery with 232 gram camera uk.youtube.com/watch?v=dO6I3fJCMys8 cell 9.6 volt 1400mah battery from ebay with same camera uk.youtube.com/watch?v=DqBOcZEr5Ssclick it forward to about halfway through and check out the height. I hope this helps you decide.
