Has anyone tried taking off the motor off of the Super Cub and mounting a motor under each wing? I`m not an aeronautical engineer so don`t know what problems might be involved here. It does seem (guess that`s the operative word here, "seem") sort of straight forward though. Reinforce about 18 inches of the bottom of the wing, align the engines so thrust is 90 degrees from the leading edge of wing, wire both motors to run at the same time. Maybe it can be on my list of things to do...

This is referred to as a "twin" setup. There are planes out there like this... see MrMugen's P38 down at the bottom of the forum. Its for sale You run into some difficulties here... but basically you have to repeat a lot of the onboard components... adding weight. You'll need another power source, another speed controller, probably another reciever... which means you'll have to replace the servos. This would be a lot of trouble.... plus you have to tune the motors so they pull the same... this is made easier by a computer radio. It might be fun to try. It most likely falls into the "more trouble than its worth" category... but don't let anyone judge that but yourself. If you're into it, you should definitely try it!

sackohammers It was mrmugens P-38 that I had in mind... Definitely sounds like more trouble than its worth but when the "cool factor" kicks in it may be worth it. lol Something I`ld like to try.

It would defiently be a lot of work but it would be kinda cool looking. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone doing it so you should try it.

For those who like arial photography, this is the way to go. Then the camera could be mounted in the nose or back a little looking down a little and not be looking thru the prop. This sounds very interresting.
I'd wonder out loud if you could just get a double amp esc and run both motors off of this one, then no tx rx problems, probably an electrical reason you can't connect 2 in parallel, but I don't know. I suppose there would be no tuning of the rpms, but the rudder might be able to handle it, I don't know.
Maybe add another wing to support the extra weight, someone posed that ? here someplace.
Just thinking out loud, and no experience to back it up.

you need two esc to run two brushless motors, i have heard of people useing just one.... but they have start up issues some times, you only need one for a twin brushed set up, but yeah, it make a good AP plane i bet . rc
