I am interested in making my Cub brushless an can't decide what combo.. Also what exactly do you need to change to do the conversion??? Where does the speed controller go?? Just between the reciever & motor??? Sorry for so many questions, just curious and the options seem endless. Thanks in advance

Hi ace1726. Welcome to the forum. Your right about the choices, its mind boggling If you go brush less all the electrics are swapped out. The speed controller does go in between the motor and RX. A few months ago i bought the E flite 480, 40 amp ESC (which burnt itself to a crisp), S75 servos X4 (because i wanted to put ailerons on) and the rest of the stuff i needed to go completely B/L. Then i put a 8 cell nimh in the cub and realized i didn't need to go B/Less at all. The performance i am getting from the cub suits me fine. Maybe i will put a lipo in it one day

Thanks for the welcome and for the quick reply.... Actually i am getting and 8 cell this friday. I already use a lipo and it is an amazing difference!!!! I am still learning and definitely not in a hurry. Just some considerations for the future. I guess I am just looking for a little more cruising speed. with the lipo the loops are MUCH quicker... anyways thanks again...

Is it necessary to replace the reciever also? Or do you just plug in the speed controller between the motor & reciever??? That would be great if you didn't have to.

When you go brushless the rx/esc combo that comes with the cub has to go to be replaced by a standard rx. which the brushless esc will plug into. This also means the servos have to be changed to the industry standard 3 wire.

Thanks for the great info. I have since ordered a bl motor/esc combo. I am also going to purchase a new transmitter package from my lhs. Once installed I will be sure to update. Thanks again
