My lovely wife bought me this little lot! After a skim read of the manual, there's a lot of shopping for bits and tricky assembling to do before she's flight ready... But

Sweet! And a nice radio case too!
Are you going to go with the straight tail or the V-tail? My dad had a 1951 C-35 Bonanza when I was Growing up. Truly awesome aircraft.

I will go for the straight to begin with. I may buy the v kit at a later point.
Happy Sham!

"You'll shoot your eye out..." they all say to Ralphie. American Christmas humor. :-)

So yes, the plane. A wooden tricycle low wing plane. Talk about a learning curve!!! Also a second charger, halves the time between charges of my many batteries. And the radio case, with the insert to fit my DX6i and all I usually take to the field. What a lucky fella! I think she wants me out of the house!

So, I've ordered all the parts and tools/glues needed to put it together. Including the cockpit kit and the retracts. I won't mention costs, but suffice to say that there is a bit of pressure to do this right and for the maiden (when it comes) to go well!

I shall see what I can do - but I'm not great at documenting. I do plan on taking my time over it. No rush at all.

Hey, Sham, so pleased for you! What a great Christmas present, you obviously have a wonderful, thoughtful wife that won't mind bits of aircraft being everywhere whilst you assemble and prepare that terrific model. Really hope that all goes well and you seem to have the right attitude with getting things correct, no rushing. Have a truly superb New Year, don't forget, when concentration wanes, a MARMITE sandwich works wonders and restores all faculties!

It sure does, but the taste makes it worthwhile ...
Anyway, Amazon and others have started to deliver some of the bits and pieces I will need. Modellers tools I didn't have, and various glues and whatnot. No electronics have arrived yet, which will be the first job... hook it all up , bind the receiver and program the ESC along with simply making sure it all works.
I'm like a big kid, exciting times. I'll start a build thread once I get started, expect it to be a very gradual process though.

The last of the tools and parts should arrive tomorrow, save for the cockpit detail kit that is coming from the US. Then I can test all the electronics and start a build thread One question, I've got the electric retracts and when I read the manual it says that I have to trim some of the covering and smooth it with a sealing iron. How difficult is this ultracote stuff to deal with? I have bought a sealing iron, but have no idea how to use it. What temperature to use or anything... And I really, really want this build to go well.

Although not the same plane model, the application by sealing iron should be about the same. Hope it helps. youtu.be/EPlGNiibJO0

Ok, that actually looks pretty straight forward - and I only have a very small area to do that's out of sight.
Thanks.
