I have took every plane I have flown to those levels of flight.
I do fly higher on occasion, but I like buzzing the grass about 90% of the time .
I have thrown many planes around the sky and across the grass....it gets exciting and it also can be stressful, depending on the plane.
The Super Cub does very well at those levels and it flies pretty slow . The grass catches any mistakes, so again going to the ground has never been
an issue with me, it's those occasions I have gone into the tree's that bothered me ....lol
My wild grassy field is actually bigger than the Park i use to fly at . It is surrounded by tree's on 3 sides and an interstate on the other.
I can go up high enough to stay out of the tree's and still be comfortable enough to know it can handle it. the only issue is here it has been very windy
and many times those winds have blown out of the East and that blows the planes towards the interstate, which is why I have been flying very low
But I have enjoyed what few flights I have had at those very low grass buzzing height.
Most of my flights this year has been after dark and with a Champ with LED's, I have installed Lights also on my yak 12 another
very nice slow flying plane, it also has Flaps and does very well...BUT not a plane you want to fly in any wind . It needs some Stabilization to be able to do that well.
Why i installed lights to fly at night when the winds ease up...which this year also has been a rare event.
Anyway ,most people have Modded their Super cubs with ailerons, flaps, brushless motor etc etc ,and the Sport Cub comes with all those mods. So to me basically it is the
Super Cub on steroids so to speak .
Well flaps can be adjusted for many settings with today's programmable Tx's . I have a Tactic TT650 and I also have a brand new DX6 .
One can set flaps to a very low glide setting ( like my yak does ) and a 3 position set up can have the first setting be very slight, like 15-20 % that slows it down allot
and setting two can go lower 45-50% and the last if you wish can go to 100% but....most of these planes do not need that complete full down flap setting at all.
Some of the faster war birds need it, but most High wing planes do not ( that's just my opinion ).
I just have so many planes already...probably will put it off for awhile. With winter coming on and poor weather all year so far, having another one just setting in a box
is not really what i need right now.
I still like the looks of the plane and I believe it will do basically what the SC will do,most folks do not like flying so close to the ground.
Most are taught go up high and do whatever...I have had to learn by flying much lower, to me that is my normal. I get stressed flying higher, as most get stressed flying low.
I guess everyone is different...lol
gonna wait and see.....
here is a link to some pics of my plane collection if interested
