I am not real familiar with all the DX5e's abilities. It can be set by holding sticks a certain way to get some settings and not others,it is Not a programmable Tx at all.

But the switches being moved should not have affected the Champ in the manner they did. The High and Low rate switch yes, but that 3 position toggle switch should have no affect in any manner the way it did.

When I get the chance I will experiment with it again to see. The Dx5e sticks are really sensitive. even more sensitive than my Tactic . That may have somewhat to do with it , as my thumbs are heavy on them .

I use a strap to hold it and my hands are placed differently than with that little stock Tx that came with it, that to may have some to do with it as well.

My crossing Tx's from plane to plane at times makes for exciting control movements....as one does a little different than the next .And on some of these planes I have set on switch's for mixture, a few occasions I hit the wrong switch or simply forgot to turn one on or off etc etc....gets exciting at times.

I will let you all know what happens the next day I get to try it out.

wind wind wind wind wind.....even when I go at 6 AM wind....9 PM at night WIND........the wind never wants to stop anymore...blah..............tired of the wind

tried to fly early ( 6 AM ), got one circle in and almost got blown away by sudden gusts...horrible...simply will not stop blowing....even after it gets dark..still windy.

everyday so far it's crazy.

I know the feeling.. Always with the breeze.
I wouldn't mind so much if it was obviously way too windy but its a tempting kind of 'I could, you know' level.

I know its too windy to be confident I wouldn't wreck my planes... But, you know... I could.

Couldn't I?

Its driving me mad! When will summer actually get here? Oh yes, when I can't fly for other reasons!

If you simply feel like you have to fly in windy conditions...that's when you consider going to a jet or a fast delta. Less frontal surface area, less drag, less affected by wind. EPP Deltas especially tend to be pretty tough too. With the motor behind they tend to get damaged less.
You do have to have the space and skill to fly them.

It has been really windy here ( as always )so have to wait until it calms down which is usually not until dark or after most times.

As my eyes are not what they use to be and it is hard to judge distances , more and more

as I always fly my Champ anyway, I decided to add some LED's to one of them

They are really bright in the sky and I can see them clearly and can orient the plane very well.

I had a great night last night for a couple hours .

I also have another Champ, I fly doing the day, but was having an issue with it cutting out.
Not sure what the problem is. The strangest thing was, it cut out at the same position on the field every time ?
I could make several passes with no issues and get to that spot and it would cut out .

It would have no input control and would simply shut off the motor..I could throttle down and back up and it would start again
but several times it simply went onto the tall grass and then it would be fine for several more passes until it would do it again ?
So far it is working fine here at the house, so not sure.

If the winds die down will have to see if it does it again.

The One with the LED's had no issue at all .

Guess I am going to have to install LED's on more planes , so I can get to fly them more.

I already have a nice set of LED's on my Yak 12 and they are controllable .I got them from
www.trickmyrc.com . Very Nice LED set up. If you contact them they can make longer lengths if needed.

I also will possibly get a set made for my Slow Stick when i get it together, which i have not even started yet.
And one other note
I also purchased a Retro Junior....they dropped the Price allot down to $99 bucks, so I jumped on that plane
I like that old retro look...seems it has ailerons, but with so much wing dihedral probably really does not need them
but I think would make a great aileron trainer for some. Will see how the Rudder-Aileron mix set up will do with it.

Again today weather is not so great for flying



Seems everyone is dealing with windy conditions , this entire year.




they are even guessing 5-6 mph winds in the night....

but as you can see it is gusting to 20 mph now....last night was very windy as well....dare say the winds will be stronger tonight to.
