The Retro Junior is what most planes looked like years ago....of course they were fuel and why this one has a pretend motor head sticking up out of the cowl.
But the dihedral was a main stay of the day as it were.
many planes today are based upon the angle's of the wings from planes gone by.
The Junior is unique in it's retro appearance and it does function very well. But ,
It is one of those planes you either Love it or Hate it .
But consider a Slow Stick. When they were first created they to had allot of dihedral in the wing and still do to an extent.
It is unique in it's structure and in the way it flies and how slow it can fly .
It to is one of those you either love it or hate it type planes.
They now have ailerons, you could consider it one of those,"you can,but is it worth it" arguments.
But can you imagine the slow flight of a slow stick and a very, very slow roll it can produce...something most planes can not .
That same argument can be made concerning a Cub...just how many Cubs will they produce and how many variations of it can they come up with.?
Seems the Cub has been made and re-made on a host of levels, added control surfaces and more channels to new names to Safe technology
to mini's to Giant scale....the argument could be made do we need more Cubs ?
My answer is Yes. Same as my answer to the Junior, Yes, it is worth it on many conditions. Retro looks and flight to simple
can I make it really do that ? I will wait and see....
But also consider the old uglystick . It does not look like much, but in it's day was a huge success and a desired plane .
Durafly has come out with a retro version of it...it still appears to be a fuel eater, but it is really an electric with a
fake engine to keep that retro look.
It also is one of those arguments as well...but really it is in the yes of the beholder as they say.
Like me who absolutely loves the Champ and own three of them, who flies it far more than all the planes
in my rather large and growing hanger. It is just one of those things that gives me joy and I love flying it
both day and night. ( I prefer night time now )
I also recently bought the Sport Cub S...it is basically a Champ on steroids, much like the larger Sport Cub is to the older Super Cub we all love.
Another one at some point I most likely will own one day soon .
I love my Yak and it has all one can need, but , I have grown to detest the micro T 28 and even the Pitts. Two planes that can be thrown around the
sky with great admiration, but very stressful and frustrating 9 times out of 10 . To others they adore them and swear by them .
I have the Decathlon, it is a mediocre type plane, it is really not great, but not bad, it just seems out of place.
The War Birds ( well the ones I have tried ) give me a fit. An issue I can't understand even now .
But it goes back to who is flying , what their desire is and what their skill level and learning abilities are.
As my health has been such a factor this year, I have had very few flights. Between that and the weather I have had no fun, very few experiments
and a large lack of learning. I already have memory issues and at times I struggle to remember some things. So I have a large
learning curve each outing I get.
A plane some may hate, I love it, and those people Love, I hate.
My flying style would frustrate some and even scare the worms out of the holes.....while other people and their rather
high altitude care free enjoyment would frustrate me to no end.
It goes back to the individual and their desire and what they like or do not like. One thing I have learned in life and this hobby
it is a very rare occasion you will find someone who is like you, in desire or thought or likes or dislikes and even rarer to find
anyone who can agree on something, good or bad, concerning both.
Dihedral-ailerons...it is one of those things we take for granted once we get use to them....and one of those things we tend to forget
about , especially when we are simply having fun while flying.
