well, the maiden flight didn't go as planned ...mostly my fault, but very minor damage. I'm new here and new to flying....I do have car, motorcycle, dual blade helo experience though. I joined this site because of the mass of great info you can only get from insiders....but...can you all help out as to teaching those like me "how to" around the s/c...? My first problem here is.... How to take off the nose cone...? I did minor damage and noce dived, something broke under the top of the cowming...but its not hanging off.... just gips forward at full power and goes dead. I think I can fix it but need to know the simplest thing.....how to get there( thru nosecone) Thank for all your help in advance. And yes, I did spend many hours on my Phoenix sim, a tiny bit gusty and jitters from me led to the crash. LOL, but as I've seen so many places here ..... back to the drawing board....I'm not intiminated by the crash.

It just takes a bit of working it off, but it simply pulls off.

It just takes a bit of working it off, but it simply pulls off. some people find that taking the two "flaps" hat hang over the prop hub and folding them back over themselves gives them enough leverage to start screwing the nosecone off.

No problem. You can also use a foam safe CA glue. I've fixed wings with that stuff and it dries a lot faster.

Only snag with using strong glues for the firewall (even if they will adhere to the smooth plastic), is that should you need to replace the firewall after a subsequent severe crash you might also remove a lot of foam.
I prefer to use a silicone glue for attaching the firewall.

Agreed. I used Silicone Caulk instead of glue. I chose a brown compound so I could see where I'd put it (all hidden under the cowl anyway), and squirted some into the holes where the FW's mounting spikes push into the foam. Enough to hold the FW in place but will likely do less foam damage if/when I have to remove it again.

I learned this the hard way (concerning using gorilla glue for firewall). I put a little, read huge, amount of gorilla glue on nosecone/firewall. Plane is now incredibly nose heavy and I am very concerned with crashing on this part again as it will definitely rip out some foam/cause significant damage due to increased weight.
