Last year at this time it was already extremely hot.The sun would bake your skin in minutes and I do not live in a Southern State where that is normal. But last year in begging for a breeze to cool down, None came. This year already May the 18th, yes it's still spring, the wind here blows everyday . I am not talking a slight breeze, I am saying a constant 15 -20 mph wind and Gusts even higher.Makes no difference if it's day or night. The Only time the wind is not blowing, is when it's raining, which also btw, has been occurring allot lately .
I purchased my Cub to learn to fly and have not had one day without it being very windy or very wet. The field I intend to fly on is a swamp . It will take weeks for it to dry up , if it ever stops raining, and the winds stop blowing.
Have been having ( when it's not raining ) beautiful days, sunshine very warm and nice not humid or harsh, really nice, except for this crazy wind. I can not remember a time when the wind has blown so much as it has this year.
Use to be the wind only blew when a storm came up and it was raining...now it blows when its nice and is calm when it rains. Drives me crazy.....just venting.....but it is frustrating to say the least . As I set and type this that wind is blowing through my open windows and the only action I get with my Cub is watching it sway in the wind on my ceiling...........maybe, just maybe sometime this year I will get to finally attempt to fly her.............meanwhile.....I will set here and dream of that day.

It's been much the same on this side of the Big Pond. That's why I keep my batteries fully charged at all times. On the rare occasions the wind dies, I can dash out to the field and get in as much air time as possible before it starts to blow again. You've read the recent thread by blackthunder, who lives in Sussex. That's the next county to mine, and they are suffering the same. Perhaps we flyers have angered the gods in some way. It wasn't me, honest!

Yeah, that might have been me, Renard... I may or may not have uttered a challenge to the wind gods after a particularly beautiful crosswind landing.

Same here.... The only day off I have it is rain or very very very windy! Today was nice and calm.... Took my gear out and at the park, wind started to take off..... Flew my drone... went back home, wind when down! Was able to do a 30 second flight after this (lost control and landed safely)

It has been VERY windy for about a month....which is unusual for this time of year. However, it is above freezing.....so I guess it could be worse...

Ian,
Perhaps the wind problem is due to you eating Vegemite? I am reliably informed (no names, no pack drill) that it has this effect with those foolish enough to allow such a disgusting product to enter their insides. ;D ;D

Yeah, I did my aileron mod, had one afternoon of calm to get in two flights. Now I am working 7 days straight, leave at 4am and get home at 7pm! Sure as sh*t, a few of those will be dead calm days I bet!

jklong03 I have yet to maiden my Cub...the past two days have been beautiful and nice except it has still been to windy to fly.In the evenings when I already decided not to try it calmed down...so the next day i decided to make plans to give it a go...that evening the wind blew harder than it had all day.....frustrating to say the least . Some time this summer maybe I will get a chance to fly .

Hate just to use this forum as a soap box to complain.....but I am getting real tired of waiting for the weather to cooperate . This morning it was cloudy and dreary and a slight drizzle of rain....went to a local park to check out the grounds, seems it should be large enough to fly the Cub in . Seeing how the other field I found is a swamp. Walked around a nice asphalt walking path great runway potential and only saw one person walking to left upon my arrival. Thought to myself this could be my day...calm, cool and no wind at all, only a very slight breeze just enough to notice when it was drizzling rain.
Made up my mind to wait as the forecast said Sunny afternoon....Finally the Sun came out and had stopped the drizzle rain...beautiful and nice....and about 5 minutes later Wind started Blowing and Blowing............ARRRRRGGGGGGG!!!!!!!
Hope the Cub can stand rain, because it seems the only time the Wind is not howling is when it is raining.........never saw nothing like it . Before the Cub was purchased it was Sunny Hot Summers and no wind and begged for a breeze and got none...now the wind blows and won't stop......unless of course when it is raining .
I think I am going to purchase another plane, have been looking at the T28 and the A1 Skyraider, Maybe a Cousair?......HobbyZone ? Dynam ? ParkZone ? whatever...all I have watched and read and online they say they hold up to wind very well.....I saw one that blew down the runway backwards setting still and no power , then flew towards it when powered up with No issues . Cross winds showed no affect on them...larger size, like the 1240 or 1600mm and even an 1100mm seems the wind hardly affected them at all.....
The Flying bug is getting to me and my patience is running out......it's that or the Cub goes in 15-20 mph winds and or in Rain storms...seems that is the only way it will get off the ground, even if it is only for a moment.....
OK I am done complaining, getting off the box now......*sigh*..........

Planes make a difference in the wind. Pilots make a much bigger difference. You do want to work your way up to maybe 10-15mph with the Cub. At that point it's getting outside the envelope of both the plane and most pilots. Over 15-20 you really do want to look at plane more suitable for the task. Deltas and jets come immediately to mind > sleek and fast. The Cub is bulky and draggy.
