Although I have used Gorilla glue for other repairs, I have never used it to mend model aircraft (hot glue or epoxy were always OK). I am now persuaded that it might be best for major repair work following my recent bad crash. Having bought some today, I belatedly realised that it is not white but the usual brown sort, which will leave nasty stains on the plane. Now comes the problem. Searching online, the only white Gorilla I can find is a very small amount in what they call a Precision Glue Pen. See here: www.gorillagluedirect.com/super-glue/gorilla-glue-precision-glue-pen-18-9ml.htmlThis 'pen' appears to be intended for small, detailed jobs, not major repairs. Please can anyone tell me if it really is the only WHITE Gorilla glue available? Is this what other members use for large repairs?

Do you Brits have Sumo glue (by Loctite)? They are both polyurethane glues. Sumo started out white before Gorilla got around to it.
It's better not to get a big bottle, though that one is pretty small. Moisture makes it 'kick' and after awhile enough moisture gets in the airspace of larger bottle to ruin it. I have actually transferred some to large syringes to keep it from doing that. The opening forms a 'scab' but it's fine once that is picked off.
Play with it a little before you commit to a glue job. It foams up....a LOT. If you trowel it on it expands and gets everywhere. You only need a little. You can speed up the process with a tiny spritz from an atomizer on the surfaces to be glued.

I've just found a local supplier of gorilla glues so i've brought both the brown and the white.
I don't think white is the one you really want to use on planes. The beauty of the brown one is when it's activated by a little water it foams up, so it can fill gaps and the glue will be ultralightweight because it's full of air bubbles. While the white glue will work quite well on foam (from what I've read anyway), it doesn't have the advantage of foaming so it won't be lightweight.
For large repairs, where you need to fill gaps or use a lot of glue, I think it's best to use the brown one because of it's foaming properties. If you are using it to fill gaps, put some tape over the surface of the gap while you're waiting for it to foam up to prevent it from expanding too much- saves you from having to sand off the excess later.

I found some foam glue called Hold the Foam. They even make it in a Hot glue stick so you can use it in a glue gun. Seems to work very well. It holds foam and wood to foam really strong it appears .In fact it looks exactly like the glue they used in this Cub. They have glued the servo's and stuff and it appears to look identical. It is white and it is thick, looks something like the old Elmer's glue. Hope it holds up. I asked the local hobby shop for some foam safe glue they gave me some CA glue..I did not look at it, just bought it.First warning states do Not use it on foam.....go figure. We do not have a good hobby shop that sells products like that, I have to order online all the time. I think I need to get some Epoxy....that seems to always be a Great glue. Guess I will soon see how well it works.

I use to use epoxy for foam repairs because it strong, and sets fast, didn't like the fact that it yellowed but now I use foam tac its strong and flexable, and fast I tore part of an aileron at the hinge, used foam tac on it, and it moves with no problem

Nice to hear from you too fly! Well I haven't used the white one yet, but it says on the bottle "non foaming" so naturally I assumed it doesn't foam up. So how do you get the white one to foam? With water as well?

Thanks for the interesting replies. Fly - I can't find Sumo glue on this side of the Big Pond. Dill - As stated above, I am reluctant to use the brown Gorilla as I don't want unsightly stains all around the repairs. (If you've seen my repair job, you will see how big it is: supercubclub.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=crash&action=display&thread=5049 As for the other welcome suggestions, both Hold the Foam and Foam-Tac are widely recommended elsewhere, too. I can't find Foam-Tac over here, but Hold the Foam does appear available, so as it seems that Gorilla white IS only available in those small tubes, I might try Hold the Foam. (Thanks, hghost.)

Is this what you guys are on about when you say white gorilla glue?

Yeah, I saw your repair thread, outch!
If I was going to fix that one, I'd use CA glue, combination of thick and medium with accelerator for a strong lightweight repair. Using tape to hold things as you glue them together is very helpful but I'm sure you know that already. CA glue has the advantage of setting clear so your cub's aesthetics will remain in tact. Epoxy probably works really well as well, but it ends up being heavier, and since it has a brown tinge you have to wipe away any excess that squeezes out of the joints or it doesn't look good.
I haven't had one of my cubs snap like that since I started using profilm or tape to reinforce them- the fuse becomes sooo much stronger with some profilm or tape wrapped around it.

Come on Dill, you know I'm not going to let someone bandy around false claims...especially when they've never even used the product. White GG is my glue of choice, I use it a lot. I HATE CA, miserable product. I'd say it foams up somewhat less, but it certainly foams. The more water you add > the more the foam. I'm generally trying to minimize the foaming. It's a wonderful product on foam since it expands into the bubbles and cracks. Again I emphasize, use sparingly or you have the stuff oozing out everywhere. GG Wood glue - Nope, plain old 'regular' wood glue, not polyurethane type. Interesting that it's hard to get over the pond. I supposed it is a relatively new product compared to glues that have been around for years.

Interesting that it's hard to get over the pond. I supposed it is a relatively new product compared to glues that have been around for years. Fly - they do sell the white GG over here, but apparently only in the 'Precision Pen' mentioned in my original post. So, as a white GG advocate, please can you say if that 'pen' is what you use, or is a larger size sold over there? As I said, I wonder whether the 'pen' will be adequate for large repairs such as mine.

Ah so this is what you mean when you say Gorilla white? Just a little ambiguous, particularly since the wood glue actually is white and other other one only turns white after it dries! For those interested, apparently gorilla wood glue works well with foam too, i found a thread discussing it here: forum.rc-airplane-world.com/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=1639Renard, have you tried looking up gorilla glue stockists in your area? uk.gorillaglue.com/eng/stockists/distributors/10/A quick googling tells me Southampton is in the Hampshire area. Thanks for that list, Dill.
I had visited Gorilla's website but hadn't noticed their Stockists button. Good lateral thinking on your part!
Seems I have some phone calls to make . . .
(I still cannot find online in UK that 2oz bottle shown in your post - only the little Precision Pen.)
