Hi gang, I haven't posted for a while, and it's a shame I'm breaking the drought with something so sad, but check out what happened in my neighbourhood. There was an airshow at parafield airport today, you can see it in many of my in-flight videos. I was actually watching it out my lounge room window today. One of the planes ran into trouble, and ended up crashing - just 1km from my house! Luckily no one on the ground was hurt, but the 73 year old male pilot was tragically killed on impact. May he rest in peace, but at least he died doing what he loved. Anyone interested in seeing the story can look it up here: www.news.com.au/breaking-news/pilot-killed-in-replica-spitfire-plane-crash-at-salisbury-in-adelaides-northern-suburbs/story-e6frfkp9-1226599160065

Hi Dillzio, Sad story and a great loss for the family but as you say, at least he died doing the thing he loved. Lucky that the businesses were closed at the time and few people around or it may have been even worse, also that it didn't crash into the nearby football field. Roger Stokes, rest in peace. May your soul fly in Heaven.

Welcome back, Dyl, albeit while telling such a sad tale.
It hasn't seemed right without you on here these past months. Was wondering if you'd been drowned in a flash flood, baked by a drought, lost in the bush, bitten by a snake / spider / croc / shark / jellyfish, or any of the other perils endemic to Oz . . . Or perhaps just studying hard? ;D
Still flying the SC?

Hey Renard, I guess I've been busy with study, and now that i've graduated from the 2-year masters degree I've been working and looking for work (the first job didn't work out). I haven't been flying a whole lot lately. Partly due to the windy weather, and I guess partly due to lack of motivation (I just don't seem to be as keen as I once was). After my last cub crashed into that car it was retired, and I built a new one. The new one had only been flown 2-3 times, and I've had a few problems balancing it out - once it was profilmed , had navlights added and I made a coroplast tail for it, it ended up tail heavy. It also has a smaller motor than the last cub (35-30 instead of 35-36) so that doesn't help either. I've just made some CF pushrods for it and moved one of the light strips further forward and it seems to be balancing pretty well now, just need to wait for some good weather and higher energy levels to see how it goes I built a Piaget 3D plane from hobbyking as well. That's good fun, but again I haven't been flying much lately. How's your beast going? Got any recent pics? BTW I just drove past the crash site where the spitfire went down. Lots of police cars, and the plane is pretty much fenced of with tarps so there's nothing really to see - I think they're leaving everything as is for the investigation into what went wrong.

Hey Renard, . . . . How's your beast going? Got any recent pics? No pix, mate - the old girl has got so much glue and tape holding her together, I wouldn't embarrass her by taking her picture. And I mean the SC, not my missus . . . The weather hasn't been too kind recently. March in the UK means wind and rain. But there have been the rare occasions, like today, when things quietened down and I have been able to fly for an hour or so. Once again, good to see you back. Many congrats on getting your Master's and I hope you soon get gainful employment.
