dondi has a very good idea there. Supporting the slider arm with the case mod at the end of the low throttle travel should greatly reduce slider breakage in my opinion since at least half the force will be taken by the extra hard stop there. It would be best to glue something in on the top rather than inside the case since the higher the support hits the slider arm or the slider knob, the more support you will get and less moment force on the arm. Just be sure that the new stop engages the slider BEFORE the slider reaches its true end of travel. That's critical. dave mc

Hi davemac...another thing is to make sure it is not so far up as to not allow the throttle to kill the motor. Once I get my daughter to upload and send me the pic..will post it. Impossible to break slider...( through normal use ), and it is glued on from outside, so no fear of anything jamming up.

Here the pic of my throttle slider mod. Top and side view of feet before cutting to fit (at bottom.)

Nice job. Very clean. You guys will have to excuse me if I don't post a picture of the kludge I did with black electricians tape!

Come on guys, there has to be a way to fix it. Anybody fixed a broken slider?
I broke mine today after 1 yrs flying, many hours in the past few days alone, no tense up, no emergency, not even in the air, just preflight test. It's all apart, and does look unfixable. We'll see.

OK, I figured out how to attach something, but I drilled too deep and broke the electrical connection.
What I did and what may be possible to do if done very carefully, not sure: So I melted the nub off so I could drill a 1/16" hole. Then I put in a tiny screw. It should have worked because the slider did slide easily so not much pressure is needed to adjust the throttle. You would need to use your finger and thumb to adjust throttle, so not for everybody. But alas I drilled all the way threw and when I tested it, the motor would run and stop ... so I messed up the drilling.
Good luck to all who have a broken throttle. My luck did hold out in that my slo-v transmitter is the same channel as my sc and a minor adjustment to the servo's and I'm back in business.
The other thing I would have tried was to remove/unsolder the slider and get one from radio shack. It is probably a very basic electrical variable resistor, got me though. When the brushless motor and esc (already have the other parts) arrive I'll be switching to an old futaba 4 channel system. The new servo's already tested with old receiver.

Mine broke yesterday.
Tense beginner, high winds, non-intentional low altitude aerobatics resulting in a full speed nosedive into field and a snapped off throttle slider.

I feel for you Buck. No answer that I've found except the possibility I mentioned, but that failed for me because I didn't have the drill touch.
Since I got my parts I'm brushless so I replaced the esc, tx, and rx so I no longer use the stock controller.

I was taking off downwind and not getting much lift... not the best idea I know
Full throttle, everything stock.
20 ft into ascent, I bank it left making a slow climbing turn, wind grabs the wing, flips it inverted and aiming right to the ground.
outside of a smashed up faring, broken prop, and some bent gear, no real damage... it's all fixed and now I just need to get over to the hobby shop and pick up a new radio

I have not and have had 3 TX but only used one extensively. I sent this to HZ about this thread and got this response: >>Hello, this problem has been addressed by Horizon Hobby's and they are replacing any of the older Transmitters that have broken throttle sliders. You may want to contact them at 877-504-0233. Wow, thanks fly, I'm calling tomorrow. I don't use it anymore as I've replaced all electronics, but then someone else can use it.

OK, so I just called the Horizon Hobby's 877-504-0233 number and my new tx will ship out today and arrive tomorrow per the tech!!!!!!!
NOW THAT'S SERVICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I didn't even think of calling them about it.
Last fall, on my 3rd flight ever with my brand new sc, the esc just stopped working and I had one of my worst crashes. Not a loose wire or bad battery, the esc just fried with all stock parts. They sent me a new esc and the rest is history.
Thanks again fly for taking the initiative.
