Not likely on this forum. This is a pretty large contingent of accumulators. They are frequently for sale on RCGroups and Wattflyer which are much larger forums.

In Australia getting one may be more of a hassle with shipping unless you can find someone there selling. They hold their price since they are desirable so factor in shipping and used may not be a great deal for where you are at. There have been some deals with RX thrown in worth checking out.
NOTE - BE SURE to look at RX prices. They are EXPENSIVE! Every plane will need one. To me this is the big shortcoming of 2.4. Futaba 2.4 is really expensive, one of the reasons Spektrum has done much better with market share.
Some people go to the cheap Chinese 2.4 like Turnigy or

People are upgrading all the time. They get a DX6i thinking it's all they'll ever need. Within a year they want something with other functions.
You call yourself 'gliderbloke'. At this stage I assume it's just a name you picked. If you were REALLY into serious gliders or intend to be you'd have to go at least to a DX8 and more likely one of the higher end JR's. The DX6i is only serviceable for low end gliders. It has decent functions for average flying but it is limited for more sophisticated stuff.
BTW-if you're smart you'll actually follow and take some time to read the links I post. I don't do this for my education and it's the best way to learn.
