Struggling a bit . Anyone know if I can use hot melt glue with this? Usually use CA, but the instructions say thats a big No-No.

Multiplex uses elapor, very similar to HZ zfoam. You can treat them pretty much the same. Hot glue should be fine. CA is OK on elapor too, REGULAR CA, not foam-safe CA.
Best to test a spot though to be sure.

Fly, this is the MK1 twinstar. It's not elapor. The instructions say not to use CA, which is why I'm a bit iffy about using the hot melt.

Not elapor > hot glue, gorilla glue, epoxy will probably all work. best to test if you can.

All done using some UHU por (forgot I had it). Worked really well. Tested CA on some scrap, and it melted...fast! Pictures when I've finished, and test flight when I have the time. Thanks for the replies!

All built and Maidened. Flys brilliantly, and barring one small accident to start with (Lost one prop on launch), is now dialled in. Flys like the cub, is super docile, and just floats in on landing! Pics as and when I can. I am pleased!

Need some serious help, please! Decided to model this on the British airways twin otter, as the twin star as a very close look-a- like! Tried to do the back end, which looks okay, but where can I find the BA decals? I think the plane is roughly 1/10 scale to the twin otter. I don't think I can hand paint the BA logo, even with a home made stencil. Anyone??

Well, not quite there, needs another coat of paint, and some landing gear, but all in all, I'm happy so far. And it flies beautifully......

Toff, sorry mate I missed this thread completely. Welcome to the Twinny club (I have a MkII made brushless with undercarriage). I don't know the internal construction of the MkI but if it's similar I can give you some detail on how I built the U/C that includes a stearable nose wheel and a similar laydown to a Twin Otter if you want. You might find some pictures in here somewhere where I've shown what I've done. BTW, UHU Por is what I used to for both the Twinny and my Gemini. It works well with MPX foam. EDIT: Found a video I made after completing the build, showing off of course, here! Ignore the sound, the radio was blasting in the background. You'll find another vid there where I'm trying to film a mates Twinny in flight, shame he decided to hoon around like a nutter and can't fly straight and level!

'Hoon' around?? Good heavens! A and E for you sir! A very nasty case of Australitis (also known as dillzioenotis) As far as I'm aware the construction of the two is very similar, with the exception of the battery bay ( Mines designed to fit Nimh - SCR 1700's) Needed a bit of nose weight to make up for the 2200 mah lipos I'm using, and also the foam - the Mk2 is elapor, mine is bog standard styrofoam, and I did build it with Uhu por eventually. I'd love the details of your undercarriage ( Hmmm, sounds like something dylan has heard before... ;D), although, from research done, the brushless upgrade is needed, as any landing gear is inherently draggy, and the sp400 motors struggle with it on. Still and all, details, yes please, although it may be a project for later.
