Well fellow SC owners I got my Cub back last night.
As I planned, I went to Super Cub eating tree after work armed with all of you suggestions, i.e. a couple hundred feet of clothesline, five 10 foot pieces of PVC conduit, etc. As I stood under the tree contemplating my first move, I heard a not too far distant chain saw (many people here is SE PA are still cleaning up from Hurricane Irene). I jumped in my car, following the sounds of saw, and found a tree surgeon/arborist working a few block away. After a short conversation, we worked out a deal. He would climb the tree and get my Cub in exchange for a cooler full of drinks for him and his crew. Boy, did I luck out!
Within the hour, the Cub was in my posession.
It is in pretty good shape too. The LiPo is of course dead and the tail will have to be replaced but everything else is OK. I'm hoping to get the Cub flying again next week.
Thanks for all of the help. I'll let you all know how it goes.

Lady Luck was on your side to send that tree-climber there! Although not as exciting as getting the Fire Department along . . . ;D
Glad it's turned out OK.
