I have seen or read that the "ACT" system is bad. I have also read that with ACT on there is a sort of limiting of some of the controls.

One, tip was to dis connect the act in the plane and then leave the switch on, on the remote.

I keep hearing that too. Mine is long gone so have never verified it.

Disconnect the ACT wires inside the plane. Put in a battery to power up the system with ACT = OFF
Give it full rudder or elevator > flip ACT = ON. The elevator or rudder should move up a bit.
If it does, it works. If nothing happens, then this is just a fable.
