It's been quit a long time since I've posted. Flying other models and just never got back to flying the cub. On Vacation in Ireland and decided that my Highly Modified SuperCub would be a great plane to try some high wind flying. This is the first video and I'll be posting more in the next few days. SuperCub Lp Extended Balsa battery box holds flightmax 30000mah batteries Flaps mod Aielron mod 35-36 brushless outrunner All dihedral removed from wing Heli gyro installed and set up on aielron servos Dual on board spy cams All up weight 38oz vimeo.com/26799338

Hi Hawk, yes!!!!! I am using a Helicopter Gyro on my Cub. Here is some really great info on using Gyros on aircraft. www.mycoolrc.com/gyro/index.htmlAfter reading the 7 pages of info, click on " Links " that will take you to a page of the different gyros. I am using the GY48V Tomorrow I'll shoot a short video of my mods and post it. John

Thanks for showing us your battery box conversion in that video, ifly. Very interesting indeed, and food for thought. Why do we tolerate HZ's poxy, undersized, accident-prone battery box? However, can't figure out what holds your landing gear in place. Surely balsa would splinter under the stress of landing - especially one of mine? And just a thought - you go on holiday from Germany to Ireland and pack your Super Cub? ;D

Im not sure if I still have the video build log of the battery box mod but I will check when I get home after vacation. I cut the original plastic recepter down to size for the landing gear and epoxied it between 2 hard wood spars. The spars are epoxied to the balsa box and so on and so on. I have to tell you that this was all done for the purpose of learning how to work with foam and balsa together. I've mentioned it before and will say it again, most of my mods would have been a big wast of time if I were to do them for any reason other than testing and learning. Really, why add aielrons, flaps a bigger motor and do all that work when there are other planes that can be bought for the same price or even cheaper that incorperate thease advantages. IMHO, I think a good mod for the battery box and landing gear is this one: www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjtM_faxRu4&feature=youtube_gdata_playerIts a long complicated story so Ill give you the short version!!! I work and have a residence in the US where my buisness is located. I live with my wife and children in Germany!!! We have a vacation house in Ireland. We normally fly to ireland, but this time we drove so we could visit relatives in Leicester UK. I took the opertunity to bring along a few of my fleet. Normally I only travel with a small heli or a micro flyer when traveling. My Fleet in Ireland vimeo.com/26847230I will remove the electronics and motor and leave the Multiplex Fun Cub here at the house. It's really a great flying plane in heavy wind.

Hi ( iflyforfum ) thanks for sharing learning a lot would I need to get a HEAD LOCK gyro. I am still experimenting with different settings on my Gyro!!! The Gyro that I have in my SuperCub:::: www.xheli.com/60p-dy-1017.htmlIs working Great in normal "non heading Lock mode" when I flip the Heading Lock while flying I DO NOT LIKE the way the it flys. When you enter a bank and then level out, it wants to bring you back to the original heading.. Very crazy feeling!!! A funny thing is I am getting a lot of wing flutter at high speeds. At slow speed it is unbelieveable how steady it flys and you can almost fly without giving any aielron input even in gusty wind. Not sure if the high speed flutter is a vibration problem or an adjustment problem!!! Still working out the kinks.
