I have the EXACT same problem! I replaced my reciever after it burned out and burned out my motor. THis is a big problem with the SC/LP. The NEW reciever and motor I installed does the same as what you are saying. The throttle cuts out at 3/4, surfaces move, motor comes on by itself servo's buzz like hell. It's the receiver. Horizon nor hobbyzone.com (where I bought it) was of any help.

I have the exact problem except my motor doesn't smoke. Your motor probably has burned windings. Look in motor openings. Don't burn up new reciever even if it is crap and they know it!.
Anyway, After buying from Hobby Zone a new receiver and motor and other parts because the reciever and motor burnt up during flight. With the new receiver and motor now the servo's now buzz, never null, no more than 3/4 throttle or motor will shut off. Surfaces constantly move erratically, motor comes on by itself.
Check other forums you will see the Super CUB LP although a great plane when it works.. is prone to this failure. Horizon said send it to us for inspection and repair...2 weeks. Thanks a lot.

UPDATE!
I just took the output transistor out of my "new" reciever I bought from Hobbyzone.com. You remember...the one that out of the box that the servo's constantly chattered, the motor would cut off at 3/4 throttle, the one that the motor would just come on by itself etc....
I put it in the old reciever that worked great till it burned up my motor and reciever and caused it to crash etc. It works great now! I'm starting a repair center...I knew there was a niche I could fill!

Ya think Hobbyzone will refund my $27 for the new reciever? I wrote them a 1-1/2 page detailed letter with pictures..nah stupid thought.

I contacted them and they sent out a new receiver and I bought a new motor and other stuff I'll probably break along the line eventually. Supposed to arrive Tuesday, but idk how they sent the rx so that might take longer. Hoping its better with a new rx and motor....time will tell.

Received all of my new parts and installed them today, and the plane runs great....too bad its breezy and about to rain outside. Excited for the next calm day. Any updates for you guys?
