I took tape that has fiberglass strands stretched through it and used it on the top of my wing to help tighten it and strengthen the wing. It has really helped the rigedness of the wing.

Tape works better under tension, meaning on the bottom of the wing. Wrapped on the leading edge it helps with ding protection a lot.

Thanks for the advice. My plane is really in the habbit of getting chipped towards the leading edge so that will help.

That tape won't go around corners. Make small slits close together on the top and bottom to get it to wrap. Outside edges seem to get pretty hammered.

Thanks, I have noticed that my edges seem to get pretty messed up.

Stuntkid, The 2" clear plastic tape can work wonders. I had a crash where my Cub snapped a couple of inches in front of the tail section. A little foam safe glue and then strips of 2" clear tape down the sides, front to back on top and bottom of the fuse. Be sure to leave a space or cut and opening in the tape for your control rods that go to the elevator and rudder to move freely. I have had a couple more tough crashes but so far all I destoryed was the cowl. A little tape will fix that up to on the inside. Also, pay attention to your wing saddle. Some clear tape at the front and rear edges of the wing saddle whether you have it reinforced or not will help keep the foam from chipping. Also reinforce the area on the wing where the retaining rubber bands cross the wing. Use an X pattern crossing from one side of the wing to the other for both the tape and your rubber bands. I have seen to many other Cub wings and other rc aircraft that have the rubber bands running across the wing on the same side front to back have disasters when they crash becasue the rubber bands act as levers or sometimes as small knives and will snap the wing right where they run horizontal to the fuse. I know this is a mouthfull but I have learned some of this the hard way and just thought I would share. I also have made my own battery box and stuts out of balsa that has tightened up the performance by making the wings stiffer with less flex to perform better when manuvering. They are attached through the side of the cub to the top of the balsa battery box with light plastic hinges and CA. I also used the light hinges to attach the struts at the wings with two small short strips of balsa laying one on top of the other with the hinge inbetween and the old plastic strut mount centered on them with enough of the balsa removed at the center to allow the old mount to stick up through both layers. Works very well as a mount. Anyway, best of luck with the cub. Any questions just put them on this forum. Take Care and good flyin' to you.

Thanks postalflyer, I have utilized 2 inch plastic tape on my airplanes many times and it has worked wonders, I still prefer to use the fiberglass reinforced tape because it has the added extra strength I need.
