And another thing, Dylan, for all you know the military might have dubbed it Duck Tape because it sealed things tighter than a duck's a*$e - and that's watertight . . .

Oh for goodness sakes! It's called 'Duct tape", so called as it was designed for Americans when they decide to go on a serial killing spree, and need some strong tape to secure the people they've Ab'duct'ed. Hence 'Duct' tape! And thats true, that is!

when i adopted the role of 'duck/duct tape expert' on this thread, I had no idea i would be competing with such highly-educated academics on the subject. I can see I'm out of my depth here so I hereby forfeit my role as resident duck-tape expert, despite my extensive qualifications of having seeing that episode of mythbusters.
It now appears that if it is called duck tape, it's cos it seals tighter than a duck's ar.se (how renard is so familiar with the muscle tone of duck anus's and the associated fluid retention capacity is a question probably best answered by him), and if it is called duct tape, it's because it serves a vital purpose in abDUCTions. In either case, it appears that I was mistaken, and for that I apologise. I guess I need to learn not to trust everything I see on TV, even if it is from a source as reputable as The Mythbusters.
John, i'm not too sure about there being significant numbers of people here that descended from convicts, can't say i've ever met a tenth generation anglo-Australian... and at any rate, Adelaide was settled by aristocrats, not convicts, SO THERE!

But as we all know, the aristocracy was so inbred at that point in history, they hardly had a working brain cell between them! ;D

. . . . Adelaide was settled by aristocrats . . . . . . and boy, was she grateful! "Thank you for the ride, m'lord! Much better than those rough convicts!"
