upgrading my motor!

I'm planning to build a brand new super cub from 0!!!

With this radio, wich seems very good and nobody says nothing bad about it, so when i get another plane, this is gonna work with it too!

tell me if im wrong!! im accepting a lot of advise!

so im planning to upgrade my baby with a turnigy motor too..

so i want plenty of power like going vertical from ground... Dont even know if thats possible, but now you guys know what i mean.

I want to learn about how to put together a good ESC and RECEIVER on it. dont know really a lot about 2.4ghz technology but i gues is better than FM... never had any issues with my stock receiver and radio gear... and i can get my super cub as high as i can see it!!! and i mean really high, never had any issues loosing signal or anything like that!!. so i would really learn about how to get a great Receiver-ESC, MOTOR combo from hobbyking.com, i dont want to get real expensive parts, but i dont want cheap and prone to fail parts...

Give me some advise like you wise guys would really do it like it was yours.

I live a the Dominican republic and it seems like I'm really alone into tis world of RC flying. need to get the parts out of a internet store.. and wait like a week or so to get my parts from a USA online RC store!

The gearbox is pretty tough. If you are breaking the gearbox > well, you may be breaking entire outrunners, ripping the firewall apart, or at least bending shafts.

Search out the threads about overpowered Cubs (something like my Cub does back flips). It was not designed for that kind of power and just dropping in a huge motor without taking reinforcement, wing incidence, motor incidence, and lift is to put your hard work at risk for a crash at speeds you haven't experienced yet.

i have breaked 4 gearboxes already in a year of use... now the last one just got a break in te middle of the shaft box without getting the cub to crash at all... insane!

You dont have to crash just a tip over on half power will crack the gearbox!
I should no...im on my 4th too n iv glued/bodged to fix
:-) the latest has lasted a while as iv learnt to flare a little when landing.

well... i know... believe me... i know to do landings!!! i Fly 4 to 5 times a week, some days several times with 3 batteries every time i do fly. everybody have crashes even the best. i mean, 4 gear boxes in a Fully loaded Year, i dont have winter time here. 3 batteries, sometimes i fly 3 times same day equals, eating 9 batteries fully charged same day. it only takes a second to crash but i have learn to respect my cubbie and if im gonna mess with inverted flying or something crazy like that, do it with room for error = enough altitude... its just that i know a brushless motor and an aluminium mount will resist way better than a plastic gear box!

Those are the exact motor mount and transmitter I bought! My mistake was not realizing the mount was for the super cub, I have a mini super cub. I rigged it up anyhow. Put a park480 in. Haven't had the chance to test it out due to winter. The weather is getting nicer now though, and I can't wait to "crash at speeds I haven't experienced yet!" Gonna be awesome!!

I only paid $40 on ebay for the thing. I figure learn to fly it, then upgrade it, and when I break it I'll take the upgrades and put them into a bigger plane!

I just got this motor, haven't yet flown with it, but with a 10x6 MAS prop on it the power is unbelievable!

Hope this helped, the possibilities are endless with the Cub, there is no specific motors or ESC's that you have to use, these are just the parts I got personally, and I would recommend them.

With the 35-36C I would use a 40A to play it on the safe side,, but the other motors should be fine

buy an ESC programming card, it makes life much easier. the 30A speedy is fine with the 35-36C up to a 10x6 MAS prop, any bigger than that and you'll need the 40A.
