just need a few quick tips and the rest I can dig through the forums for. Ok,as of the moment I have a stock cub w/ stock electronics. My buddy ordered me a few parts to upgrade reciever, esc and new radio. I got a Mystery 30 A esc, hobby king hk trga v2 2.4ghz 6channel w/ the hk t6a v2 2.4 ghz 6 channel radio.
The esc he ordered me is for a brushless motor and has 3 black wires (middle black wire BEC) for motor and a red and black for battery.. The stock cub comes with 2 black wires...can I still use this esc and leave 1 black wire unhooked? Or do I need a different esc? I want to upgrade motor so if this esc wont work for stock motor I will order new motor. Any advice? Thanks

Brushed motor > brushed ESC (2 wires)
brushless motor > brushless ESC (3 wires)
Totally different electronics. Do not mix them up.
You ought to have ~ 10-20% 'headroom' on the ESC. Go for the 40 unless you plan to deliberately underprop it to keep the power within bounds.

Most will advise against it because it is way overpowered for the stock SC airframe. I fly my SC with that motor(35-36C) and am extremely happy with it, but something you should know...You need to be good at flying and handling power. One wrong move with that much power and you will rip the wing right off the plane. Or should I say "SNAP" the wing. Plan on strengthening the wing if you really want to use the full potential of that motor. As Flydiver mentioned, go with the 40amp ESC. You will be pulling about 31 to 32 amps with a 11 x 5.5 prop. no sense in proping down to get in the 22 amp range. If you are going to do that then you might as well go with the 35-30C and a 30A ESC.
