after mushing my wing tip and prop, i was trying to figure out a way to reinforce the wing tip. i remembered from an airshow act i saw of a guy with a cub doing 50 degree banks five feet off the runway, and other stuff. ...he had steel plates as wing tips because he scraped them on the ground. i made some out of plastic, and stuck them to the plane with double sided carpet tape. i815.photobucket.com/albums/zz76/higgsbosonman/cubbie/HPIM3495.jpgi don't know how well they'll work, but for everybody who scrapes and lands on his wing tips, this might work well

YEAH! THAT GUY! thanks for finding it killioughtta! i tried the plane out with the new wing tips, and i didn't notice any odd behavior. i guess the exra gram or two of weight on either wing tip doesn't hurt. it really does help!

Where did you get the plastic from? What kind of plastic is it? How thick/thin is it?

Those look like they could eventually become sharpened and be dangerous. I do like the easy mount cowl system though.

You are concerned about a plastic wing tip protector getting so sharp as to become dangerous Now I'm not great at flying, I'm not even that good, I just got back into the sport last year and can do some very basic maneuvers. BUT IF I WERE RUBBING MY WING TIPS SO MUCH ON THE GROUND THAT THE PLASTIC PROTECTORS SOMEHOW BECAME SHARP TO A POINT I THINK IT WOULD BE TIME TO REEVALUATE MY FLYING ABILITY AND ASK SOMEONE FOR HELP: ;D ;D ;D ;D I also on landing rub the wings every one in a while but............ ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Over time they could become sharp to some degree, or even just snag on something and rip the wing completely apart. I was thinking of something more along the lines of ice cream bucket lids. Cut to size and shape of the wing and glued to both top and bottom sides, or possibly even heated and molded around the wing tip. Was just trying to come up with something easy and found at or near home to alleviate the ordering and spending money process.
