Good luck, that's a bit like asking what is the best value in a car. You really need to be a lot more specific about what you expect and what your budget is.
Dirt cheap are several towerpro motors. They work but they got a bunch of problems. Some of the Suppo and Turnigy and other motors for a bit more are a bit better. It's a supermarket of possibilities after that. Do some reading.

I'm thinking of getting a eflite 480 from the states with mount and ESC because here in New Zealand it would set me back $180 for the motor alone, so i think i've made up my mind
Thanks Cameron

Cameron, Emax make some pretty reasonable motors, something like the BL2215/25 pr BL2215/20 would suit the SC. I'd advise against using a FC type as the shaft is more likely to bend/break. Other makes you could look at are Suppo (also known by many other names) and Keda (motor model numbers tend to be KD something). None of these are as good as the Eflite (AFAIK, I've can't justify paying the 3-4 x price tag that they attract so cannot tell for sure how good they are) but all should be available at roughly a third or quarter of the price.

You would be better off just buying a motor mount off ebay, and buying the electronics yourself from hobbyking, it'll save you some money.

I'd recommend the 35-30C, or the 28-30

You might as well redo the battery box to mount your battery vertically, and add a couple of 1800-2200ma LiPos to your order.

Be more specific. What do you mean the plugs wont fit? That doesnt make sense to me.
