Hey Guys, I'm new here. This is my "Sooner Cub". I painted the fuselage and wing with spray paint and masking tape, I used Stickers for the "BOOMER SOONER", and I hand painted the window and the OU on the wing and tail. Unfortunately, it doesn't look this nice anymore....    |

Beutiful! How big are those tires? do you ROG? is the cowl glossed or just clean?
WHat did you do to mess this thing up?
Why do I have so many questions?
Will I be able to stop in time?

"Beutiful! How big are those tires?" --- Thanks! The tires I believe are 2.5" and I wouldn't put them on again. I had to get a special nut a home depot to fit the landing gear then sauder it to keep it from coming off.
"do you ROG?" --- What is ROG?
"is the cowl glossed or just clean?" --- The cowl is just clean. I opted to not paint that because a friend I fly with kept having the paint come off of his cowl.
"WHat did you do to mess this thing up?" --- Flew it, it seems as though tall grass is enough to crack the paint (I used the Testors foam safe spray paint). I've got another "back-up" plane that I'm about ready to just coat with monokote because the paint chips off WAY too easy. But seriously, since I've painted it, it's been stuck in a tree for a few hours and crashed a few times on various surfaces (light posts, asphalt, and grass/mud).
"Why do I have so many questions?" --- That in itself is a good question. Likely, you are just curious.
"Will I be able to stop in time?" --- Guess so.
"Will It FLY!!!" --- Just flew it today, and it flys very well. It's a beast. All I've had to replace is the tail which cracked.
I'll posts updated pics of it tomorrow, then I'll probably feel bad and end up doing a bunch of touch-up paint.

BOOMER! I live on OKC and was thinking of doing this exact paint job. You beat me to it There can't be too many Sooner planes in the sky. I thought a lot about how I wanted to paint mine, but in the end, I'm a Sooner through and through. Plus, one of the guys I fly with is a OSU fan. My "back-up" cub is going to be in the same theme, but with monokote instead of paint. |
