Has anyone ever tried to color or dye the rubber bands? I know that you can dye the plastic rims for RC trucks and stuff. I've seen white rims dyed black. Maybe a sharpie?
I have some extra, I may try this. Would be nice to have red rubber bands to make them a little less visible.

The only safe colorant I can think of is a concentrated water based dye. Anything solvent based (even from a texta) will risk degrading (or accelerating the degradation of) the rubber bands.

I'm not sure how it's going to hold up but yesterday I colored some rubber bands with red and green felt tip pens, the permanent type. I plan on using them on LiPo's to mark them as charged, green and discharged, red. I think it will make it easier for me to not loose track of them. I'll try to update this after they've been used for a while.

So far, so good. They seem to be holding up well, I use them to keep track of charged, discharged batteries.

I used a green sharpie to color mine. Haven't noticed anything damaging to the rubber bands, and it looks a lot better. I'm going to try ink next - get a fountain pen ink well and see how that works.

couldn't you just go to office depot and buy a box of colored rubber bands? all there doing is going around batterys, not on the wing, so they don't have to be very big.
