None of the electrical components likes high heat. Smoke is the enemy. Too hot to touch is over the line. Sounds like you may have left the throttle on for a bit after the crash. This causes a dead short and fries everything FAST.
Lipos become damaged after ~ 140*. Motors that are actually smoking indicate heat sufficient to cook the insulation off the wire and possibly demagnetize the motor magnets.
Sounds like there are some more new electrics in your future. Lots of set up suggestions in the forums.

Minute?.....only takes a few seconds. Dead short with a stopped motor. All the power of a lipo trying to dump itself into the ESC and motor. Something is going to burn up. Look inside the motor with a strong light. Windings should be bright like a new penny. I doubt they are anymore.
TX and RX will have nothing to do with power output. They are purely control. ESC does not limit power unless it is too small and burns out. Too big is merely extra weight and money.
Fix? Sorry --- replace.

take the cance while you can and go brushless outrunner. Unless of course you don't want to, it's up to you. You could also find a brushless inrunner that fit's the stock gearbox, but the outrunners work excelently.
