Stock Battery, battery box mod

Since I was not planning on upgrading to a different battery, I decided to make it easier to fit the stock battery in the battery box. I cut a portion of the front of the battery box, just below where the landing gear wire rests. The battery now fits perfectly, and gives me enough clearance to lay the battery completely down without damaging the wires.

Do you think it might be worth putting a little foam or door seal tape against the foam, or is the battery kept from rattling around by the wires as it is?

The battery is quite secure just using the velcro. I flew the plane twice yesterday, once with a nasty crash. The battery stayed secured and didn't budge, and the wires were never damaged. One more positive is you don't have to mess with the CG like you would with a vertically mounted battery. A negative to this mod, you are limited to the stock 1300mAh battery. But like I said, since I am not looking to get a bigger battery, I'm really pleased with this mod.

You might want to consider filing a groove in right side of the BB to keep the RX connector wires out of the way while you insert the battery. See the last part of my post at : supercubclub.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=tt&action=display&thread=2699

Great idea Britpilot, I'll have to do that since I've noticed it's a bit of a pain.
