I think it's probably overpriced. He doesn't say where the motor is from and he keeps the printing on the ESC turned away from the camera. I'm guessing this is because he doesn't want you to see that you can buy the set up from Hobby King for less. Which is what I'd do. Then I'd buy one of those nice aluminum motor mounts they sell on ebay.

I think it's a Super Simple-bottom end ESC and cheap($10) from HC. www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=6460&Product_Name=Hobbyking_SS_Series_25-30A_ESCDon't recognize the motor > not a good sign. Also not good that he doesn't disclose real specs at all. Someone in the group had done a similar motor mount mod using PCB board and bolts. Not too tough to replicate. Super light in THIS front mount power system is not hyper-critical as you need to come up with ~ 150gm to balance. My buddy put a honking BIG Suppo in his Super Sport AND had to add lead to deal with the problem of a geared/brushed/NiMh design. That's probably the MAIN reason the LP did not go brushless. They would not have minded the cost of a similar power in a brushless motor but NOT the cost of an equivalent WEIGHT brushless motor.

my concern I guess with doing this my self is getting the thrust angle correct.
Is it a eyeball it, the best you can to get the thrust angle?
That is the reason I like this guys, just bolt it on. He also said because I asked him for another 18.00 he would include the 2 new servo's and a spare prop.
I would like to do this to my cub. I have a brand new futaba 4EXA I have never even used. I would like to use it lol.
Anyone who has converted to a good, and reliable brushless setup, could you please list the parts.
I do not want to try to figure out the best "motor, ESC, prop, Servo's" on my own, I'd be shooting from the hip, I would like to go with a common good easy to do setup. Thanks George

Was trying to type out a response last night, looked back and belem and flydiver had already posted responses that pretty well summed it up. You may get away with sacraficing in one category, say going with a cheaper motor and saving some bucks but the overall quality of the power system will go down, cut two corners and it's even worse, three corners and you're on your way to he!! in a handbasket. Motor, unknown; ESC, cheapo; prop, looks like an APC clone (cheapo). As far as a reliable set up, I went with an E Flite 450 motor (since then changed to a Heads Up RC 450 Sport), E Flite 25 amp ESC, 2 E Flite S75 servos, an aluminum mount from booksnsteam on e bay and using GWS 10X6 DD props from Hobby King. Now that is 1 set up I can attest to, not the cheapest route but definitely good & reliable.

Thanks Belem Anyone use his package? thoughts on it? Does the price seem high? Will still need servo's and a rx.
I use GWS 10X6 props right now can I still use them? If not what should I be using?
Thanks! George

To be honest, I think that motor isn't really for the cub for the following reasons: 1) Too high Kv, if you must have a 35-36 then get the 1100Kv variant. That will allow you to fit a prop of the size that's suitable for this airframe (10"). 2) It's too big for the cub. 250W is more than enough to liven up the cub beyond normal and the weight may make it difficult to set your CoG. Take a look at my mod here to see how many including myself have kept the stock thrust angle. Simply cut the stock motor housing and run longish bolts off this to mount your motor on. The PCB has been replaced with perspex as that was too brittle. The motor I use is a Keda 2217-16T (1050Kv) although I don't know whether that is available in the US.
