Just got my Turnagy 30A ESC. Where do I connect the 3pin wire. I think it should go into the throttle control but where is it located on the receiver?

What TX? Spectrum/JR > 1 Futaba/Hitec >3
Check your TX manual. That's the determining factor.

I am still using the stock receiver that came with the cub. I just removed the jumper due to the LiPo batt I am gonna be using. Do I need to change the receiver in order to use ESC?

ESC and reciever are combined in one unit on the stock setup. sounds like you're trying to connect a brushless ESC to a brushed motor which wont work. to make a long story short you will have to change the ESC, servos, and reciever to get a working unit if you plan on swaping electronics

I was trying connect esc to stock receiver which obviously is not possible. So, sorry for the confussion. I have upgrated to LiPo 2200's, wow what a change. It climbs with no effort. Now, I need to get DX6,so that I can do my ESC mod.

redfire Don't get a DX6. Nothing wrong with them, I use a DX6 and am happier than a pig in slop but the thing is I've painted myself into a corner. There's only one reciever available for it (AR6000) that can be readily used and the technology in the newer recievers is getting much better. Both the DX6i and DX5e radios are from Spektrum, 2.4 Ghz and feature DSM2 technology so are a little better (at least in theory) and would be a better choice (DX7 is out of my league for now). Again, not bashing the DX6 (great radio) but when I get the bucks for a new radio it'll probably be a DX6i or DX5e (gotta keep in mind how many chanels I really need).

AND-don't get a DX5 as a primary TX. It's a single model design. If you have several models you will soon be unhappy with it. Yes, you can re-bind each model but if the RX is hard to get at that's a pain and almost for SURE the controls will NOT be the same and the trim WILL be out of whack for every model change. My buddy's DX6i is in the shop right now and he needs to make the changes for every model. He almost lost one of his models because the trim was so out of whack.
It's a fine TX for a single model or as a buddy box.

I think I'm trying to do the same thing as redfire. I have a Super Cub LP and I got a Himax 2808-0980 w/ a Castle Thunderbird 9 ESC. I was wondering the same thing about where to plug in the 3 pin. So I CAN NOT use the stock receiver or servos? Any recommendations on what to get?
