Hey all, I took my cub out yesterday after the calms of a storm. About 10 minutes into my flight, I encountered insane gusts of wind. They must have been anywhere between 20-15 mph. I lost totally control of my cub, I could barely bring it into me. I was flying over a lake and feared looking my cub in the water, or worse yet, out of sight. I lost view of the cub and I am pretty sure it ended in a nose dive. Once I found my cub, it was in visually perfect condition. However, once I tried to turn the motor, it was almost stuck. It didn't tun nearly as fast and can only partially spin at full throttle. Someone who saw the cub crash said it did a complete nose side. I am confused on how the motor got damaged? The crank shaft cog and the motor cog are connected vertically horizontally independent. So, any horizontal force, as the force in my crash, should have been transferred into the firewall of the cub or the crankshaft. Neither the firewall nor crankshaft are damaged, but my motor is. on a physical level, I am completely dumbfounded on how the motor was broke. Thanks!

Take the motor out of the gearbox. Try to run it by using a common D-cell. It should run slowly (low volts) but without any problem. If it got junk in it from the crash that will mess it up. You can wash it out with ordinary water (soapy water is OK-flush with clean water after), shake out well, dry with a hair dryer, and oil the bearings (bushings) at the end. That will clean out dirt and the like.
If the motor runs OK, then maybe something is amiss in the gearbox.
