I have no personal experience and pass it on for member interest only.
In general the 'easy' upgrade for the Cub is just go 3S lipo and keep everything. The stock motor will handle it with a 10x6 GWS/HD prop and does not have bad efficiency or power. Your cost will be the batteries and charger-not necessarily cheap.
If you want even more power and willing to go brushless but don't have the $$ for a full house upgrade (big chunk of money since everyone goes Spectrum it seems) this may be a viable option.
If you do this be sure to report how it worked and issues you had.
