EDF's (enclosed ducted fans) are merely small multi-blade props in a tube. They are used for sound (either a cool noise or an awful racket depending on your opinion), and looks-they make a jet look like a jet without a prop hanging off. In fact they are far less efficient than a double blade prop hanging out. Edit-Went flying with a buddy yesterday. He's got a brand new Panther with an EDF. He gets barely 5" to LVC on it using thottle control. My Funjet with a stock Stryker motor (25A/2000KV inrunner) and a 6x4 prop is less noisy, goes faster, and easier on batteries. It's also a larger plane-possibly an advantage in this case as the wing loading could be lower.

I just looked up the funjet, that looks like great fun!. How does it compare to the Parkzone Habu? Both seem like good entry level jet planes.
