Hey guys
Well I have flown everyweekend since I got the plane, and recently bought my father one. He is doing really well as long as he gains altitude first. I do want to say is "strong" He crashed 7-10 times I would say, not super bad but a crash is a crash, none the less. no damage at all to the plane! But picked her up, checked her out and tryed her again. He is doing well now.
Anyway right now is winter in Maine, and we have gotten some snow etc in the cowl, due from crashing or a non perfect landing.
Wel I always clean the snow out after flying. Should I oil the motors a few drops? If so, what type of oil? Can I use gun oil?
Thanks guys!

If you do just use a small drop of 3 in 1 or bearing specific oil. If I remember correctly the SC stock motor has bushings...not bearings so you should be fine without it. If anything you may want to clean and lube the bearings the prop shaft runs though, but it should be fine without.

Yes, clean and oil. About every 20 flights or any good 'dunking' (water, dirt, snow, junk). A light machine oil is fine. WD40 is NOT. I use a teflon-based spray dry lube I found in a hardware store on the gears. Seemed to smooth them out and quiet them down a bit. You can use grease BUT, sparingly, and it UPS the maintenance since it readily attracts and clings to dirt and the dirt is worse than no lube. Only for the compulsive types.
During the winter you can tape the cowl opening. Not much cooling is needed in those temps.
