I am a little new at this. The batteries in my new super cub do not seem to last as long as they should. I did own another plane and I do remember that the batteries did not last long either. Is there a secret to charging the batteries, or are there any other batteries that last any longer. Any suggestion would be helpful. Thanks Pat

Batteries if new should improve with cycling a few times. If you fly only on weekends leave them discharged and charge just before flying. NiMh will lose 10% of capacity overnight and 1-3%/day there after. Top off with the DC peak charger just before flying.
The Cub only lasts about 8-10" at WOT with good batteries. More is only with good throttle management. Batteries with more mA are available. Going to 8-cell will increase power and performance but not necessarily longevity.
If it's important for more than that plenty of advice on how to go lipo here. Just start reading.

During the second time out the batteries did last longer. I did some reading on the site about the lipo batteries. I still don't quite under stand about the lipo batteries. Are they interchangeable with the Super Cub batteries. Will they last any longer. From what I read its seems like a lot of flayers like them from their remarks. Pat

My cautious answer it to not go there until you are comfortable with the information. There's a lot to learn. Ignorance of NiXX has some frustration but few serious consequences. Ignorance of lipos can have nasty problems. I highly recommend reading here. Go through the whole thing or randomly read in subjects as you have questions. In a nutshell, lipos pack more power in less weight. They are a TOTALLY different chemistry, need different chargers, and have completely different use requirements. It's a pretty confusing arena to jump in to so be prepared to spend some time on it. In addition to the batteries you need a charger - that's a large discussion area with a mess of opinions. Here's a little more info on NiMh: supercubclub.proboards78.com/index.cgi?board=batt&action=display&thread=1648
