That combo will not give you much performance....hardly flight. Use this as a guide. You want at least 90 watts per lb. to get trainer performance. 90-110w for fast scale/sport aerobatic performance. Are you looking for a cheap set up? If so check thsi sellers other items and find one that will give you enough watts to fly.

Look for a 3s in the 1500mah-2100mah range. I prefer 1500mah's and 1800mah's for the cub.

I agree with gagallagher04401 keep the stock motor , power it with 3s lipo and switch the prop to a slow flyer 10 x 8. It will be awsome !!

Yes indeed George the stock motor on 3s is great. It is cheap to replace and works very well. I flew mine that way for a good amount of time before going brushless. I bought my first 7c radio for the cub. It still is on the same radio now....cub#1.
If flying in calm wind 0-9mph on a 1500mah pack I got around 15-20 minutes with plenty of WOT when needed. With a 2100 around 30 miutes If I remember correctly.
I always use the 2100's if the wind is higher for weight. I like a heavier plane in winds for better tracking.

Thanks George

I bought my 3S 2200mah Zippy LiPo's from rchobby.com. They were about $20 a piece and took a week to get here. These are pretty good packs. I've had one in water....accidently. I've also over discharged one and brought it back to life without incident and it works great to this day. I'm running the stock SC motor with my lipos and you definitely want the 10x6 prop. You can find GWS 1060 props on eBay and you'll have to drill the whole just a bit larger to fit the SC.
