Not bad! I have been doing the same.....training on heli's. Hope to get one of the CP's soon. I think winter will allow for plenty of practice.

Hey I just wanted to give my 2 cents on the Helis. I've learned from my own experience.
While the CP's are very attractive since you get a RTF Heli for a very low price, they are a smaller Heli and thus harder to learn on, much harder. I've read plenty of posts on HeliFreak and other groups where people think they will jump right in to these and are surprised that they can't fly the darned things.
There are people that do learn on the CP sized Heli but they are extremely difficult even with the training gear.
Before you buy, jump on a few different groups and see what other people say about the CP or similar sized Heli's for learning a full CCPM. I'm not saying it can't be done but it is much harder. You will have a much easier time with a 450 sized Heli. True they are much, much more expensive to begin with but since they are bigger, they are easier to learn on.
Like I said a few posts back, I've been flying my HeliMax MX450 for quite a number of months and still can't do a decent nose in hover, and that's with some heavy training on the Sim. (trust me it's much easier to fly in the Sim than it is in real life).

Thanks for that! I was thinking the same thing. I read that more than once but figured for the price I might go CP. Now I am certainly convinced to go with a 450 sized. Thanks, Kevin

Question is? How many cp's can I wreck..in comparison to 450's?

Thanks, Kevin One other thing you may want to research is brand. I have a HeliMax and really wish I would have spent the extra money on a TRex 450. The HeliMAx was much cheaper out of the box but a lot of the replacement parts are twice as much as the TRex, for example, I've broken several tail booms. HM Carbon Booms are $26, The ones for the TRex are $16 and much better quality, (thicker carbon so they don't break as easy). From what I've read the TRex flies better too. I've read a lot of posts by people, including myself, who did not buy a TRex who said, "I wish I would have saved my money longer and spent the extra dough on a TRex". I've never heard anyone who owns a TRex say they wish they would have purchased a different brand... Good question. I would have to research that. I spent abt $400 for mine, (but I already had a RX, TX and brushless motor. Hope this helps, let me know what you guys decide to get and keep us posted on your progress!!!

Ah the memories. I had a Trex 450 for a couple of years and loved it Align, who make the heli produced an aluminum case for it, which held the heli, tx and lipos. It was great for just throwing in the car and go fly.

I'm sure you won't be disappointed with the Trex. Don't forget to get a bunch of spare blades. Go for the Trex Wood Pro's, you don't want to go with the carbon when you're learning. Stay away from the Trex plastic blades, they flex too much and are only good for stirring paint cans.

Hey, thanks for the tips. Feel free to keep em coming too. I am new to heli's for the most part. This will be one heck of an expensive training mission without you. Thanks again, Kevin

Kevin I wish it was Kevin. ;D I'm afraid i only got to the stage where i could go inverted from a stable hover and stay there for about 5 seconds and then flip back upright If you liked the last vid, then your going to enjoy this. This heli is about the size of a T rex 600. It's a Logo 14 from Germany. vids.helistore.at/dani-logo14-vstabi.wmv

I'm amazed watching some of these guys fly! Could entertain folks all summer long! Know I'd sit and watch! Alan Szabo Jr. has to be one of the best! Has some nice vids on you tube. Did see a crash one though!
